Ancona to Split ferry - Jadrolinija or SNAV ???

As per title

Planning our trip in a couple of weeks time, doing a loop down through Italy, up through Croatia and back across Italy again

Does anyone have any experience of these two companies ?

The price is pretty much the same so just wondering if either is better than the other

I am also interested in the answers though I have been mostly looking at SNAV

Wors3 crossing ever!
Having done that route, IMHO all the faff and costs just aren't worthwhile.

Ir's much better to ride/drive around to Croatia and enjoy good food and so much more on the way.

I'd triple the distance just to avoid that ferry!!
It's not a break but a stress point.
Go here, go there, go through here, get bus, , go onboard, collect cabin key, find cabin with all your clobber, then find the key doesn't work. Back to get new key and so on...
Horribilis.

Take the time to explore; you'll be glad you did.

On the other hand, the Ancona to Igoumenitsa ferry is OK- If you prepare your o/night bag including sleeping bag AND MAT you can go right to the top of the ship and sleep under shelter-( no need for cabin). There is a bar right there and ...and...and... HOT showers (well, they were a few years back ) and a loo.
They don't bitch if you bring your own nosh either

Bit of a down memory lane trip as I served in Bosnia back in the 90's during the war (pull up a sandbag) so wanted to retrace the route from where we landed up into Bosnia where we were stationed

We did Ancona to Split a couple of years ago, it was fine, yes getting the ticket was a little bit of a faff, but asides that, great experience. No bad memories whatsoever, even the food on board was ok.

Just found it JADROLINIJA, now I must say I have done a fair bit of traveling in my time and I found this service to be fine, no problem whatsoever including an a la carte meal on board. My standards may be much lower than others. I do repeat, figuring out where to actually get the ticket before going to the boat was a bit strange, but we had time and it worked out no problem either. Just a bit strange

Crossed from Dubrovnik to bari 2 weeks ago with our bikes on jadrolinija ferry. Couldn't fault it. 7 hour crossing for 112 quid.

We went Bari to Dubrovnik with Jadrolinija on 1st October with our campervan. Italian end was a bit vague but boat was very good.

But it’s still on the cards for another year

Just to add to this...I've just booked my tickets (via the SNAV website) and will be traveling over in May this year. £200 quid return but I did op for a nice cabin and some food and wifi so I can continue to argue with whoever on here...and upload some pics

Did Split to Ancona last year on SNAV. Opted for a cabin as overnighter. The cabin and boat were excellent. The food less so. We went in the a la cart section (treated the wife after some hard core Croation campsites )
Id just get a pizza next time.

We did Ancona/split 11years ago, and Ancona / Durres last year. Both SNAV I think and both perfectly OK as quick way around Venice and Trieste into the Balkans. First time we just bought a ticket for the next available boat at the terminal, had a night in Ancona and off we popped. I seem to remember it being fine. Last year we used direct ferries.com and half way across and down Italy; just booked whichever crossing worked for our timing for a couple of days time. It was overnight, cabin was typical ferry cabin: just big enough for two but en-suite and very very warm. Too warm. We giggled listening to the bloke next door having a couple of wanks though. Fap-fap-fap, oh-oh-oh!! It was funny. Food was UK motorway standard so not brilliant but we just about got an evening meal and light breakfast out the buffet options. PAYG and not expensive.

I would say don’t overthink it. A chaotic crossing is far more interesting and memorable than a boring one.
