And the best selling 1000cc plus bike is.... the Wankpanzer

it's no surprise that the 750-1000cc sector is doing well with so many good bikes launched recently

Now imagine how many they would sell if the tank had been 4 liters bigger and if there was a real taillight instead of the stupid looking Harley blinkers...LOL Saw a triple-black one and it looked good...Top speed with bags wobble test following soon...Resistance is futile...LOL

Dont let the Wankmeister himself or better Arsey read this...LOL

One…… they would have sold ONE more… to you!

Not everyone wants what you want personally in a bike.
You are not the benchmark that BMW we’re aiming for when the bike was being designed….believe it or not, the world does not revolve around Boxerlust……get over it!

Probably due in part to the £20k plus cost of the large capacity adventure bikes now coupled with the increase in interest rates for those who buy on PCPs putting up.the cost of ownership. The mighty GS will still no doubt carry on it's dominance amongst the must haves and well heeled but people like myself are voting with their feet, maybe that's just part of a natural transition

Why is the GS selling so well?

'Adventure bikes' have now become touring bikes. People buying bikes over 1000cc are of an increasingly ageing demographic.

So buyers of these big capacity bikes are sometimes better off financially, have different needs from their bikes, like premium brands and can no longer deal with the riding position of sports bikes.

That's why.

this has been the case for 20 years

and in the next decade, as the bike buying demographic is skewed towards baby boomers, more riders will want sub 200kg bikes and be less concerned about riding 500 miles a day. They will want something to go in the garage of the motorhome for daytrips, or to ride 50 miles on a warm day from home.

I've been running a survey on the RS forum. With a sample size of nearly 30 currently, the average age of an RS owner is over 65. That number will only rise as years go by as very few millennials are riding bikes.

Bubb you Sir are an idiot...The new GS is nice but what is the advantage of a super small tank , missing taillight (beancounters save a few bucks) and the linked to the front FOOT-brake ? Please explain ! And Yes I know the new ADVersion will be shown in Garmisch in July but not everybody wants or needs a tank like a ADV when somewhere between too small and too big would be just right !

Will it do 200miles to a tank?
(or as B/Lust would say......a Timble)

This is the only thing I don’t like about GS’s. Too popular? Common?
I had an R80RT, R850 and R1100RT in the 80’s/90’s when it was all Gixxers and Fireblades etc, I went to a R1200GS in 2006, still not overly popular then. My 1300 is my 5th GS, kept my TC for over ten years. I tried breaking away from them in 2009-2011 buying a couple of Harley’s, that obviously didn’t work.
Every GS I’ve owned have been standard height, trying a few uncomfortable low seats but going back to ‘managing’ on the standard seat.
The adaptive ride height has finally, for me, solved the shorter leg issue. I’m a GS rider until I no longer ride, even though they are common, popular, “not for real bikers” or “for old men” I’ve heard all the slurs.

The boring repetitive Muppet that is BL needs to realise that envy is not a good look. If only he could afford one then the world would be a better place, well this forum would be anyway. He should have paid more attention at school then he would have got a better paid job. Back to your dingy bedsit Boxer where you can shout at the passing traffic, whilst everyone else enjoys a fantastic 5 star motorcycle.

You will not see me buying a 1300 GS . It has the looks about it, that not even a mother could love nor forgive herself for. Vile looking glitzy thing, with suicidal taillights. I’d sooner part with my money on a new R12 Nine T. To me it has more to it in the way that it has less…

Wouldn't your knees be under your armpits? ;)

I was thinking that. I struggle to bend into shape for a Nine T and I am a gnome in comparison to Ev.

But yes, any boxer bike is not great value now. If I change the R1200RS I will be looking at one of the great sub 900cc bikes than can be bought for half the price.

I'll not be buying a 1300, and not sure what I will get when the 1250GS goes.

I bought my current bike in June 2019 and can't think of a reason to sell it anytime soon.

You would need to buy a Piss Pot , flying Jacket and Brown Boots and a pipe .... well at least it has a 17 in front wheel :D:D:D:D

My 1250RS SE I finally took delivery of in December with a few extras was cheaper than my 1250GS TE Exclusive when I bought that in March 2020 so to me anyway it seemed "good value" especially when compared to the new 1300GS, but it still wasn't "cheap". All manufacturers seem to be putting their prices up with the middleweight ADV bikes costing up to 15k now so I can see more downsizing in the future if this trend of ever increasing prices continues

TA for that bit of advice. :thumb
However I don’t have to be a stereotypical wannabe hipster, just because choosing a certain type of a motorcycle. As for a pipe, never!

Just like riding my KTM, it does not make me a “typical” KTM suicidal, wheelie popping knob.
