Ankle boots ?

I am looking at some new boots and wondered what people think of these new ankle boots from Sidi, Alpinestars and the like. I currently have tech 3 boots but want more of a boot I can wear after a day's riding in the pub. I am thinking of riding in a good quality pair of hiking boots but wonder about their strength if I come off.

Have you tried Altberg boots, highly regarded and they are near you for convenience.
Strength wise, not the best, however, still perform well enough for me, and don't look like in your face biking boots.

Doesn't your landlord complain when you do a day's riding in the pub

I've been wearing walking boots for touring abroad for years and this year I bought a pair of motorcycle ankle boots - great for walking around in but cannot attest to their protective qualities in the event of an off - fortunately

A good pair of hiking boots probably give you as much protection as proper bike ankle boots

I always ride with short boots in the summer as they are much more comfy.

Tech 3s for road riding are a bit overkill, DMs off road are asking for trouble
