Another ABS Fault Question!

2002 GSA Servo ABS:

On start up the abs lights go through their usual sequence, after this when I pull in the front brake all is fine, when I lightly prod the rear all is fine the servo noise kicks in and the rear brake light flashes, however if I put pressure on the rear brake pedal the warning light below the ABS light comes on and stays on...I can still hear the servo noise when pressing down unless I press down really hard on the back brake when the noise stops. I have checked and renewed the stop/tail bulb. Any ideas? Also not sure if I can re set the ABS on a servo? or is it a BMW dealer thing only?

Maybe the battery is low on power. On the older ABS system the warning lights blinked if the ECU saw the battery didn't have enough power and it switched off the ABS>

Maybe, because you're sitting there with the brakes on and servos whining away the same thing is happening. What does the Owners Manual say?

Funny! lol

It seems to be doing the same, as soon as I press the back brake when moving (after all lights have gone out)

I have only ridden it up the road and back as its not taxed or insured yet, having just spent a few months doing it up in the garage.

The battery has been on an optimate, but it has taken a few goes to get it started?

I had(have) a similar prob but mine is a servo 2003 iABS bike - not sure it is the same as yours.

If the red Gen light is on (the one under the ABS light) and the ABS light (upper one) isn't on or flashing then the manual says the rear brake light is faulty. I also found that if you ride a long for a bit and then switch off, it clears itself suggesting that it could be a dodgy connector somewhere.

Could be a microswitch or bulb or wiring. I unplugged most connectors and cleaned them up with contact cleaner and it hasn't come back (so far).
