Location
swamps in Strathmore
Sitting in the swamps of Strathmore watching the rain battering on the window, trees tossing in the wind, girding my loins...both of them...thinking about our next trip south, which starts this afternoon.
My efforts are pale imitations of some of the trip reports that grace these pages, but come along if you want...

View through my new window...when we moved here, the bedroom had a perfectly adequate window but not getting the sun.
So we had a new one put in, facing SE, and getting what sun there is all day.....not much today!
A nice chap over the road works for a double glazing firm...the same one that put the windies in before we bought the place, so I got another to match at trade price, someone else I knew did a cash job, taking a Stihl saw to the walls and inserting the window and made good, my contact got me the internal sills facings and trim for a bottle of vodka(!), which I put in after the inevitable decoration....I've now done every wall in the place in the 21/2 years since we bought it!
Anyhow bits and pieces to do before we set for off...

I am in Gerard,
Have a good one both of you.

I’m in! :thumb2
Where you aiming for today then?

Good one Mr G …. I’ll be watching. Have a guddun 👍

Drop the hound off for his hols with his mate, and then to Perth for the first leg.
The station was a very grand building in its day but sadly run down.
A grand very smart train awaits....

....but sadly not for us..
This is The Royal Scotsman, really a moving...very expensive... hotel, that takes it's guests all over Scotland. We had just passed a Royal Scotsman road coach in Perth, I would guess going to take the guests to Scone Palace for the afternoon.
We were on a (late) ordinary train with ordinary folk.

Into Waverley and across to the hotel over the road from the station.
I had all sorts of plans to get to Waverley for an early start tomorrow, but it all relied too much on other folk and their cars, so I decided a hotel by the station would be far simpler...and here we are (link)..

Not headed for Transylvania are you Gerry ...

Cafe Royal tonight for seafood perhaps? I'll nip down and buy you (both) a pint ...

Back past the station and onto Princes Street. Nice to have the time to just donder along a deux, people and window watching.
Although it must be said that, Princes Street and Rose Street are not what they used to be, finishing up at The Mussel Inn in
Rose Street.
