Another mystery trip involving many wheels!

After the excitement and pageantry of the fireworks and parade, a wonder through and over Ponte Vechio, to the 'other' side. A scramble up to the Piazza Michaelangelo.
Quite a climb up....even the trees were knackered....1000005899.jpg

Popped in and had a late lunch/early supper
Ravioli in nettle sauce(?) with Tuscan ham....actually very tasty...worth the gamble!

Abreak in Milan, enough time for an espresso, and onto the next train, bound for Zurich..a very comfy one, enough room to spread out and store luggage.
Haven't bought much...a lump of parmesan and some smart balsamic vinegar, so only the 2 cases and a man bag, cunningly disguised as a game bag..

Bummer!
This way we did exactly that....went through the alps...in a 57km tunnel!
From the road up towards the St Gottard, right through to Switzerland emerging near Schwyz.
Still pretty, but now raining.

So they have obviously repaired enough of the base tunnel enough to let some trains through..the train we are on was shown as arriving at 1527, now arriving at 1445 so some extra time in Zurich.
We plan to stash the bags at the station explore some of Zurich(again) and get some grub before getting the sleeper to Amsterdam...hopefully we get to spend all night in bed on this one..2024-04-0114.04.508679425691083900664.jpg

At the head of the Zugersee is......Zug

No awfully attractive round the station, but some nice looking spots by the water, and some nice looking roads by the loch.

Into Zurich, find and do battle with the left luggage lockers...Monzo is our secret weapon in the battle of the CHF versus Euros...ie we have no CHF!
They are happen to take paper euros but give only CHF change....fine if we were here for longer than a few hours but.....

Wander down Hauptbahnstrasse, probably one of the foremost shopping streets in Europe....it being Easter Monday, most of them were closed....phew...arriving at Loch Zurich.
A cruise on the water seened a good plan, so off we toddled...1000005935.jpg
