It will Just about manage an 800 on bings

It took a while to figure out a running problem about 10 years back Until I figured that tank had been repainted and I asked the bloke and he said He couldn;t afford a twin tap replacement for his that had a leak So he bought that one cheap off a bloke that he knew who had it lying (A single tap)

Solution until he got a replacement tank was to use less than 4000 RPM for extended periods or when it started coughing to slow down and let the bowls fill up again

I tested it with my twin tap tank and it was fine

Whilst I get what your saying,
I’ve just finished building a G/s tanked special,(single tap),
It’s 1000cc,full moorespeed heads,328 cam,the same dellorto carbs,it’s making over 70 bhp at the rear wheel,
And that is shown no signs of fuel starvation at full throttle.
We shall see.
If it’s an issue I’ll have to deal with it.

I’m not saying you are incorrect ,
However ,
If I pull the fuel pipe off with the tap turned on,
I recon it would probably chuck a gallon out in 5mins.
When was the last time an airhead did 30 miles in 5 mins,
Or even if it was only doing 10 to the gallon it would need to be doing 120 mph sustained to use that much fuel,
I’ll check the flow once it’s finished.

FWIW last time I was at Cadwell Park on the R90S with PHM38 Dellortos I averaged about 30mpg absolutely wringing its neck. I must try harder. Shane Byrne has the lap record (2.173 miles) at 1m 26 secs which is averaging 91mph. I'm assuming I am <50% capable of that with me old bones. Each 20 min session I do, I think I'm doing 6-7 laps, which is 13-15.2miles - so no issue for your single tap tank.

HOWEVER, having had an incorrect float setting on a Bing set-up once, steady state at 70mph was possible but there was no margin to accelerate. When you come to test your bike, I suggest get it steady at 70-80mph for 15-30 seconds, then open her to WOT.

As ever, there may be better tests available.

I just thought I would give you the heads up while It was fresh in my mind in case you had an issue

I cleaned out the gauze and tap and blew the lines clear and checked float height and got him back mobile again so he could get in and out to work..... He asked, "How much?" I just said Pay it forward and I hope he has
