Another step forwards in solving the problem...now, Lambda sensors info please?

someone that does not know the relationship between watts amps and Volts, maybe its because you cant understand it??

Watts = power

Amps = current

Volts = potential difference

Look Warmshed You are what you are and I am what I am, What I know is that:-

A welder uses current to create an arc which creates heat to melt metal and weld stuff, not volts

Volts "usually" (within reason) don't kill electronics but Amps Do

and My Granda's favourite adage when we were wiring up industrial sites using both single and three phase supplies "Volts don't Kill Amps Do"

I think my reasoning is sound enough If you don;t agree that's fine, We'll agree to differ, But don't give me crap about theory and if X remains constant etc etc that's fine in the lab in the real world it ain't lab conditions :thumb

If designers lived in the real world we'd all have early model 1150GS's and not fall apart pile of Schite 1200s!

Another example Clutches in a 2006 Astra wouldn't take 6 hours when we used to do them in 45minutes in a 96 model, Mainly because some arse with little or no real world concepts design this stuff on a computer and wouldn't know how to reverse a fucking 3/8th ratchet in real life!

PROGRESS!!!!! :bounce1:bounce1

Speggo came round this afternoon for some tea and biccies, and after we'd set his TPS properly, I started stealing bits from his bike and bolting them onto mine :green gri

LH injector, swapped, bike ridden, no difference.

LH AND RH injectors swapped.....BIG difference!!

Not perfect by a long shot, but much better.......pulls better and for more of the rev range, idles better and max speed up to 80 or so now....still fluffy at more than 50% throttle, but that's a fair improvement.

As further proof, Steve's bike ran like shit with my injectors on it.....similar symptoms to what I've been suffering from :JB

Current thought process.......(and remember the bike ran at 100% for 80+ miles when Neil swapped the LH injector before) I reckon RH injector is FUBARd, and LH one is semi-knackered......This was probably due to a long lay up and gumming of injectors.....compounded by fuel pump issue (since replaced) and dirt fuel (since flushed through several times).

Also compounded by iffy adjustment on LH throttle cable, making balancing impossible for even the guru.......

So.....next stage is to have FIs cleaned ultrasonically (seperate thread runnning about that now), then refit and re-test.....then, acquisition of new (longer?) RH throttle cable and either a revisit to Neil for cable fitting or maybe DIY manometer balancing session....(There's another thread in that one BTW, involving illogical gremlins and seemingly impossible paradoxes after Speggo and I tried out my new DIY manomenter this afternoon :blast)

I'm feeling quite happy though tonight.....it's possible that the underlying cause is in sight :JB

+1
what a nightmare :tears :tears :tears

Aye, but I've learned a lot :thumb2

(took me 3 minutes from start to finish to get Speggo's TPS set at .36v for example....the first time I tried that, it took an hour fekking about with different wires and stuff to get a reading :blast)

BTW fanum, if you get in a total pickle on this, I'll consider lending my 1150 for your trip...no really I would. It needs an adventure :thumb2

TYVM, but seriously, I couldn't :kissy2

The only way to operate is on a basis of 'if you bend it, you fix it', and 19 stones of me leading a bunch of Skygod's buddies across the Moroccan pistes on someone else's bike is something I shudder to think of :D

Well Bill, any further news?

Did you get your injectors cleaned out, and did it have the desired effect?

The garage floor wasn't what caused the panic though.....it was the hissing and spitting as it all flowed over the hot engine and 'zorst headers

:D

Don't worry about that - as a bike mech we used to regularly bleed carb bowls on hot idling bikes after an italian tune up road test

They won't catch fire unless there's red heat or a spark - both unlikely under the engine.

I only set one alight when the fuel caught in an aftermarket belly pan on a scabby old GPz550 when a dodgy HT lead set the fumes alight.

Picture 4 bike mechs comically running around with their hands in the air shouting FIRE !! - but no one bothering to get an extinguisher

Funny as....

Injectors delivered back this morning, new seals, internal filters and everything cleaned out, spray pattern sorted.

Going out to fit them soon :thumb2

95% there.:clap

Leaking exhaust manifold is losing some power and not helping still, and she needs a damn good balance afterw I fix that, but what an immense difference!!!

Smooth acceleration right up to the 80s (on a private road obviously) and revs beautifully.....down on power but that, i hope, will be sorted with the above two known problems sorted out

Seton tuning
did a fast turnaround of the two injectors....nice guys to deal with as well, recommended.

£36 inc vat to do the pair and they came back with new rings, internal filters and flushed out in both directions, with a spray pattern and flow rate report.....considering the price of just ONE second hand injector is more than this, I'm very happy with that :clap

Thanks to Neil for the swap that first gave a big clue (that, with the ever so obvious hindsight now, I should have chased further and faster after that first single injector swap made such a difference, albeit only a 100 mile one) and to Speggo for swapping BOTH of his over to give the first solid, repeatable evidence that the injectors were the main problem

Thanks to all for comments and suggestions too :thumb

I'm a happy bunny this afternoon :JB

Now this is interesting: I think I'll send my spares away for a cleaning and service. :thumb

When we put Speggo's on mine, mine ran 75% better and his ran 75% worse......mine with the freshly cleaned ones is running a LOT better than with his in though (in other words, his are partially fekked as well) , so yes, worth a go I'd say.

When I was looking for injector cleaners, I used a linky from here that gave a searchable list of companies....all that use the ASNU process.....Seton's were the closest and did give good service, but there maybe one closer to you :beerjug:

(not that it makes much difference unless you're hand delivering I 'spose)

Aye, quite possibly. :blast

But saying that, you do have hindsight :P

Of course going from the original injector swop, your spanky clean ones may be fecked again in 100 miles:D:D:D

..........just kidding:hide

Yes, but the pump is new and the filter has been changed a couple of times.

The petrol going through now is sparkly clear and the filter is clean.

I'm going to give you a massive wedgy when i see you next by the way :P

What date is it?

Still a mystery about the loose valve clearances?
