Now employed by a subsidiary ( I believe) ...Openreach.

Yes and a lot of them are very, very bright. Offshore, whilst some will be be very clever, won't usually be engineers.

However, most of the chaps that consumers see will be from Openreach.

I used to find that a lot of the guys who worked on the offshore systems were ex military.
