Well, are there any?

I've just had a few days with friends in Ellingham - it's a cottage we rent on a fairly regular basis - and I was wondering if there's anyhing legal I could tackle around there next time I go?

BTW, the Pack Horse pub in Ellingham does some excellent grub on an evening - and the Black Sheep bitter is on form too.:thumb2

And whats happened to the Seafield restaurant in Seahouses? Gone bust?:nenau

If you're in the TRF, contact the local group and ask if they have someone to show you the area. Make sure you state what bike youll be on......:augie
Ask Forry on here too, he's from up that neck of the woods.....

Powburn to Jedburgh along the Salters road and Dere/Clennell Street !!!! bit technical in places but do-able ....try the TRF though matey....and take a friend :thumb

I was at a weekend party in Ellingham Hall two weeks ago and yes the Pack Horse is a nice little boozer.

There was talk of the TRF Northumberland closing and decent tracks up here are few and far between - most are restricted now.

Wales is the place to be. :thumb2

What a load of 5hit Northumberland TRF are very strong there are plenty of decent tracks in and around Alnwick and Seahouses if you want give me a shout i'll make sure you have a day's ride in that area.

Please do not try Salters road, Clennel street or the Street these are illegal and have never been legal.

What is?
that Northumberland TRF are strong and healthy.
That there are loads of good lanes in Northumberland.
or that Clennel, Salters and the Street are illegal.

I'll point out if Northumberland TRF was going to fold as a ex Chairman I would know.
I also run a Trail riding company using Northumberland as my normal riding area as well as Wales and other area's and honestly Northumberland has loads of lanes available.
Just check the Status of Track's in the Cheviots on the County Council web site it will indicate the Status.

I do realise Snoopy is a well respected figure on this site but as far as trail riding goes i've probably done in one day as much as Snoopy has ever done in his life.

Clennel Street, Salters and the Street were all legal when I was a pup...

..and I've invited friends from darn-sarf to come and experience them..

It's a shame such obvious vehicular rights of way have been lost to the red sock brigade.

This has feck-all to do with Snoopy.

Alreeeeeeeeet calm down. ;)

I heard it of Lou, i think he is an ex member. He gave me a load of routes via memory-map you lot used to do and I can tell you a lot of them are now illegal, tarmacked and in one case a farmer stuck a sheep pen in the front of one. I only know this because I tried to do them...

I've a lot more to cover so hopefully they'll be better (and none of the ones I have are around Seahouses or Alnwick so feel free to share).

no never legal they where used on the bases of presumed vehicular right of way and as soon as the goverment said prove it. it was impossible to prove as there is no evidence at all.

Snoopy coming out with statements like Northumberland TRF is to fold is untrue & misleading he has been told this information from a unreliable source. but no problems i'll happily let Snoopy go down to Wales and look for the pot of gold trails down there. because there are no trails in the NorthEast/Northumberland Britains largest county.

this last weekend i done over 100miles of trails the weekend before over 100 miles next weekend i'll do 60-80 miles only because i'm having a quite day. and all these day's out have never left Northumberland.

Thats good to hear .......... please don't call my friend "Snotty" - I find that offensive - he's just a bairn and a little impetuous but still a nice lad. :thumb

Print a few good ones then and I'll go with my camera at the weekend.

I can't keep up with a bunch of pogos on my fat GS. :rob

PS) never said it was going to fold only that there was talk off, but I shall tell Lou to shut it. ;)

I can point you along toi the TRF who will have upto date information or I can point you to Northumberland County Council who have the definative map.
You've never been out with me so you don't know if you can keep up or not.
Yes i agree you only said there was talk off but honestly from somebody who never missed a meeting for 7 years I've never heard off that conversation.

This is all news to me - I and all that rode those routes and the farmers etc we bumped into seemed happy that we were legal..

Glad I rode them and pleased that I was an outlaw and didn't know it.

:)

PS: You may remember me: I was the twat at the Cambrian Rally on the KLX650 with almost bald stock tyres.
You passed me about 200 yards into every timed stage, even though I was 2 numbers ahead of you... :D

I don't mind being dragged into forum "discussions".

A rather large ex-chairman told me in a friends workshop with two other people around, that the TRF might fold!!!

The above mentioned person also commented on how good lanes were still open and legal. When i mentioned the "good" lanes i used to do with the TRF the words "never been legal and not legal" were mutted again and again.

Maidens way........................never been legal.
Clennel street.........................illegal.
Deere street................................never been legal.
Troutbeck.........................................never been legal.

All of these were done when i was A MEMBER of the trf and led by TRF MEMBERS.
Yes there is some good lanes around but not as good as what we used to do.:comfort
