Any of you Tossers ride a pushbike?

My CX bike has cable discs, they are very good. I can't really see me needing to spend another £250-£300 to upgrade to hydraulic calipers or £400+ for a full hydraulic set up. They slow me down very well from 50+ mph on a long steep descent near me. Have Hope brakes on both the tandem MTB and normal MTB and they are superb.

What's the word on disc brakes? Good or Not so good? Must have fitment or are caliper brakes still good for the average cyclist?

Waste of money on road bikesTony.
They're purely for the Rapha Elite Fashion Victims. :thumb

Edit: Clarification/ Qualification.

Seems to be the feeling of most of the people we (me and Sue) have spoke with Bill. Sue is hankering after another bike and wonders if disc's would be better.

I really think it depends on both where you live (big hills) and whether or not you ride year round so would be out when the weather is crap, rainy etc. I ride yr round and won't go back to rim brakes on a road bike, the discs are so much better in all weather conditions....wouldn't be an issue at all if I was a fair weather rider. :thumb2

Pro Cycling teams are looking at disc brakes with a view to develop ABS for road bikes (yes - it will happen and yes, will be light enough). This will save many racers from injury and worse. Just look at some of the crashes on descents on the Grand Tours.
