Don't even think about going out riding with those pedals until you're completely comfortable clipping in and out of them. And by 'comfortable', I don't just mean knowing how to get out of them when you plan to, but more importantly, doing it in an emergency situation which you didn't anticipate. The consequences of not being able to get your foot out during a fall can be severe: in my case, it resulted in a broken femur that nearly necessitated a partial hip replacement.![]()
I can still remember getting tangled up in my first toe straps and keeling over in slow motion
thankfully at fourteen I was bouncier.
