Does anyone know if this, http://www.nippynormans.com/touring...-tool-box-mounting-kit-r1200gs-lcadventure-lc works as a "stand alone" unit and can it be used with the vario cases? Could another make case be used/adapted such as the Givi S250 or the DS Protection box.
Any one try this?

Seems pretty obvious to me that the straps go down through the pannier top fixing points, which in itself would prevent the Vario panniers from mounting, though the toolbox would be even more of an obstruction, so I can't see that you could possibly fit the pannier at the same time - looks like either/or to me.
I have this set up on my gs,it uses the mounting points for your nearside pannier,so you wont be able to use your vario pannier and this kit at the same time.
