I am in the market...

Either 1250 Exclusive or 1290SAS all depends on a deal at KTM dealers. AFAIK 1250 is to new to be discounted so doubt you will get anything but a lower finance rate.

Good luck

For a price or a bike you actually want.

To be honest, I enjoyed test ride on a 1290S and loved it, but GS is old slippers. So if I can’t get a deal on a 1290 it’ll be GS exclusive. Not bothering waiting for an adventure version as can’t be asked with spokes any longer.

Any idea if they're gonna be available this year?

GS is and so is RT. GSA probably tail end of December or early new year.

They do, but not by a huge amount by the time one chucked half the flippin’ power parts catalogue at it.

yep base prices do not suit all, but how does it work out price wise with the cost of the BMW parts for parts example, is there much of a difference at the end of the day, so then it makes a easier choice, what do you want most.

The KTM is cheaper, but not by much, once you’ve added some extras & Powerparts stuff.

An easiest option is to buy Exclusive, the only things I will need to add would be crash bars and fog lights. Rest of the stuff will fit straight from my GSA.
Since BMW sell their bike already built with bits most of us would want it drives asking price up, compared to KTM, who sell theirs bike as a base and then dealer has discretions how much discount he’s willing to give you to make “built” bike appealing to in punters.

Depending what one wants really, as base bike KTM are cheaper than BMW it then we all love farkles, comfort etc.
I personally would want Powerparts heated seats, heated grips and quickshifter as an absolute minimum.....
Cost of PP I’d want ads up to around £2k

To answer you question, KTM will work out cheaper than BMW

All good info, now its winter might be the odd deal around, as I am sure dealers will not be selling as much now the hype is over, give yourself time to ask each dealer what he is offering, might be worth the travel.

New BM are not to be discounted.......
I found a great KTM deal only to be withdrawn from under my nose (was not and still not happy about that dodgy tactic). None the less, base bike price still available at a whopping discount.

So far I’ve been in touch with 3 BMW dealers , 2 of which prepared to make a deal.

2 prepared to make a deal, give it a little more time snow and ice on the ground, and more deals will come.......;)

That is true, but I bet from new year, bike price will go up, finance rate likely to go up, and so on.
Another thing I am thinking to myself, why am I doing this to myself? I gave perfectly functional GSA has 15k on the clock and I owned it from new for the past 19 months. I guess it’s a novelty thing and I fancy something that is a little lighter.
I am pretty sure KTM can be the cheapest bike I can get right now, but deal is hindered by PX value dealers offering on GSA. Equally BMW dealers would give crap PX on KTM.

The trick, if you go down the finance route (once you’ve got your head around the fact that you’ll never own the bike, and there’ll never be any equity in the bike) is to voluntarily terminate the agreement once you’ve made half the payments.

Then it doesn’t matter what it’s worth, or what bike you’re buying next, you just hand it back. ;)

Is that how you do it then? Lol
