Has anyone bought a R1100GS starter motor recently? Mine is starting to make noises again (I stripped and cleaned it last year). The place that reconditions starters and alternators near where I live has quoted a minimum of £60 to recondition mine. I'm wondering if I could get a reasonable quality new one for the same sort of money?

I'd rather go for a D6RA75 model than the original D6RA55 one if possible

I found this:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Anlasser-...A75-neu-/320949627680?clk_rvr_id=464529949655

any thoughts or opinions?

You'll need to do a search on here as some think they're poor quality, however I bought a brand new Anlasser starter for £28 and it's perfect:nenau

I'd done a search, but the problem is that stuff like this changes so quickly, the difference quality from one batch to the next can be huge. I was hoping someone had bought one recently.

Isn't Anlasser just German for starter ?

I bought one a couple of weeks ago (see this thread: http://www.ukgser.com/forums/showthread.php?t=327751 ). It seemed to be decently made and thus far has worked just fine.

Thanks Matt

I just ordered one. Hopefully it'll be OK.

Two weeks ago my starter decided to die, I was in St. Tropez and needed it sorted.... 516 Euros !!!!
BMW Frejus.
all sorted :D

The starter arrived this morning, six days from Germany wasn't too bad. I've had a quick look and the quality looks OK. I'll get it fitted at the weekend and report back.

Just fitted one of these German starters, and so far all OK. :thumby:

I had to swap as my original was starting to get very slow, so will be stripping it over next weekend

Someone on Ebay is selling the starter motor can with magnets for £27.49 plus post, smashing if its yer magnets.

All fitted, and starter noises now gone :thumb2

Hopefully I won't have to look at that again for a long while.
