Just in case you think I stole this avatar, I was using it about a year ago but have not been on the site since, I remember Fanum as a boy thumbing mags on the toilet at the time.

Guys, seriously thinking about tagging along if you can accommodate one more

Couple of questions first.....

How many hours riding per day?

Where are you all meeting?

Is there anything I would need other than passport, insurance doc's, bike reg, credit card and an iPod?

Is anyone coming back on the Sunday?

Wife said it is ok, have 03 GSA, no tools or spares (apart from clean undies)

Is there a fixed gps route to Gib?

Should I pack swimming trunks?

I only know how to order two beers in Spanish and ask for a packet of cigarettes in French, is that a good thing?

As I am the only bod with no GPS ... if I get lost how do I find you guys again??

Is everyone all filled up by the time they get on the train ... so we can move out of Calais straight away ... or are we all going into the first french petrol station??

If it starts to get dangerous ... in one big group ... do we just make our own way to an agreed overnight stop??

Tom...there's no reason it'd get dangerous if there's a big group on any ride....as long as people ride considerately the group size doesn't make any difference apart from it taking longer to start off from a stop.morning departure.refuelling etc......

Using the drop-off system, people can just ride at their own pace so there's no stress.....as long as the dropped off person stays there until the tail marker appears and waves him on, it's fine.

As for the rest, it smacks of organisation

Agree with someone with a GPS to ride together .

There's a fuel station as soon as you get off the shuttle and should still be cheaper than England .

Never ridden in a large group

Didn't know which Dinner Jacket to take myself so i'm not bothering , anyway the suit carrier took up to much room , so still stuck on evening attire .

Don't worry Tom everything will fall into place we'll manage fine you can't miss James on his white adv with matching white kit

That's if everyone know how the system works

I think I am going to see how it goes ... if I feel uncomfortable in the group (i.e. going too fast) I will just meet up with you guys at the destination for each day.

Other than that ... just wished I bought a Airhawk at the Ally Pally show

We all have mobile phones. You'll have to use whatever map you have to find where we are. Same as you would if none of us had GPS.

Don't worry about filling with petrol, the very first stop, we all fill up, simple.

Where/how does it start to get dangerous.

We're heading for bordeaux ( there's a big sporting event on the following week, i think it's the paraplegic games) if the weathers bad, we may be a bit short, if it's good, we maybe a bit further on. Don't give yourself limits/goals before you've even left. The aim is to get to morocco asap. Just enjoy the ride. Relax. You'll be pleasantly surprised how easy it all goes. Or do you just want to be led in an organised group with everything aranged for you. Instead of being an individual riding with a group - big difference.

My only concern if it can be called a concern ... is different riding abilities.

I am kinda on the lower end of the scale

So I will just play it by ear. If the group is going too fast ... then I will just ride at my pace. Meet up with everyone at the overnight stop. I don't think it will be an issue. Done it before.
