Has anybody fitted Keihan headers to their R1200GSA?

What advantage does it give you apart from the loss of weight for losing the cat? Any performance enhancements?

Thanks :thumby:

Roadcraft rider will be along shortly !
He has a set on his and for what its worth they are quite lovely
Single piece unlike the Akra i have which is held together with springs and things, no welds inthe bends either which IMO makes them a better proposition to the Akra

As for performance his certainly seems to go better for them and sounds faqntastic with the end can

Tubular headers give a more consistent gas flow and save weight compared to OEM headers. The advantages only really apply if you get the engine remapped. I found a significant improvement with Remus headers and standard can, but the catalyst clogs things up so of course its going to feel free-er without it. I later went to an Akraprovic full system, but apart from the sound I could feel no performance difference or change in mpg. No matter, I prefer the looks. ;)

I planned to do the same after fitting my system but never got around to it before running out of cash. D'Oh!

I am considering the Keihan headers and then the Hilltop remap

A very good idea, I fitted mine around 2 months ago and rode it straight to Geoff at Hilltop. Great headers, they fit beautifully and look fantastic, Geoff at Hilltop is a great bloke, bike now pulls like a train and sounds really well. I guarantee with those two things you'll be smiling all the way back from Hilltop

I gave keihan a call today to ask if they do the headers for a TC, with the added length so I could lose the flappy valve, fit the exhaust can direct onto the headers without a joining piece. They said they don't but if they got a request for a couple of headers they would look into it !

headers?

well Im looking for a set that will fit a 2010 GSA
I have a flappy valve tube replacement fitted and a 2010 flappy valve fitting BMW option Ackro end can.

I was going to just get what the they have in stock but if I can get rid of the valve tube and connect straight to my Ackro can that would be my preferred option.

Im counting now
me APW

I'm not sure how many bods you would need, but I'm sure they would apply some discount, I got no other further info apart from what I posted, I might give them another call tomorrow.

Guys leave it to me; I grew up with Kevin who runs Keihan and I spoke to him tonight but that was before I realised there is a few of us. He is calling me back tomorrow evening so I will discuss some sort of group discount.:D

Is there an option that fits direct to the OEM end can and eliminates the flap valve without needing a link tube? I'm interested.

Mike, I would give Kev a call tomorrow but I see you have done that already.

My bike was the test mule for the Keihans and they are superb and sold a few on the back of people seeing mine. I think they are top quality and at least as good as Akra and Remus where you pay for the name. Mine have doe 100,000 miles now and have been to Alaska 4 times in some of the worst road conditions you will find. I'm not an avid bike cleaner either but the headers come up beautifully when I can be arsed to polish them, which isn't very often.

When mine were fitted, I tried lots of combinations of end cans none of which makes any difference apart from noise.

I've found you need some back pressure for the engine to work properly so keeping your OEM end can is a good idea unless you want to lose a few kgs.

For the best results, Keihan headers, standard (or baffled) end can and either a remap or Power Commander.

My set up is Keihans, an American FTP end can and PC111 dyno'd and fuelled to my riding style. I can't fault it.
