Anyone fitted Keihan headers to R1200GSA

Will the link be a separate piece (needs clamps) or extension of the headers to take into account the removal of the valve, so that it looks much neater

An extension of the final end pipe of the headers to take into account the removal of the valve is my ideal option to fit a flappy valve compatible end can.

If Keihen cant provide this extension option,

then I will take set with a link pipe to fit a 2010 R1200 GSA Twin Cam please.

Tbh if they don't want to produce new headers, they could always tig a piece on the end, I was going to purchase the flappy bypass from NN and tig in myself rather then using clamps.

Can you please put my name on the list for a set.
With link pipe extension for a 2012 TC.

Thanks :thumb2

I have spoken to Kevin and he has come up with an excellent price. He does not want it broadcast to an open forum so I will send a PM to all of you who have expressed an interest with all of the details.

Thanks Mike :beerjug:

are they open over the weekend or are they a Mon-Fri only outfit do you know Mike?

Keihan are only open Monday to Friday and I'm pretty certain don't offer a fitting service.

I've fitted loads of these so if anyone wants a hand doing that, let me know. I can get a "fitting" venue local to Keihan sorted out subject to me not being traipsing across the USA.

One thing I always advise is get a set of exhaust gaskets from your dealer. They are a one use item and only a few quid.

Just seen this thread, is it too late to express an interest? TC with std exhaust would love to lose my flap!

Received my headers today from motorworks. They certainly fit a lot better than the Akras, even if they don't look quite as cool! Akra tail pipe and link pipe (I have the one from nippy Normans) took a bit of fiddling about with to line up. Can't comment on the sound or performance difference as finished at 10pm so a bit late to start it up, but will be giving it a run tomorrow, then have a dyno session booked Saturday to get a custom map for the PCV

Keihan are developing a header pipe to fit the twin cam and remove the stupid flappy valve without needing a link pipe. Result!

I already had the nippy Normans link pipe. It's a very tight fit - I had to tap it in with a mallet, so it doesn't need a clamp, and will probably never come out again!

Good stuff but for anyone else -
BE VERY CAREFUL the tubes are very thin, especially Akra systems. Better to get the pipe swaged than screw up the whole system.

Hi all, just an update, I spoke to Kevin this week and he has confirmed that they are going to produce a set of pipes with an integral link pipe to eliminate the flappy exhaust valve. I will be hanging on for one of these for my 2010 GSA.

xantamisch - I will PM you.

Got my bike dyno'd today. Made 98bhp which I thought was ok. The guy that did it was very disparaging about Akropovic - he said it's fine for all out track/racing where performance is all that's important, but it's crap for road use and longevity, especially titanium.

He seemed to know what he's tallking about. Garage full of race cars and bikes and been a bike race mechanism at BSB and TT for years.

Bike runs even better now :)

I'm happier with with the Keihan headers - the noise is about the same as the Akras but it's just a lot easier having a single piece

Was that with the decat headers and stock can !

Reading again I've noted you have the akro can, surely 98bhp is on the low side !

Would definitely be interested in a set of headers with integral link pipe when they are ready. I have a 2012 1200GS TC

End can makes no difference - it's all about the headers and the Akras unleash a bit more than the Keihans. I think stock most TC's make about 88/89 at the wheel as its quoted 110 at the crank. I might be wrong though. Either way I'm happy with the way it drives - it's lost that dip at 5k that it used to have
