anyone fitted tcks to a 12gsa

got them fitted yeterday,done about 200 miles today to scrub them in......god these are scary.anyone know whats the correct pressure for road riding.the bike seems to be aqua planing everywhere.i know the roads are wet and they are off road tyres but,dont feel confident at all.the reason they are on is i hope to do some off road riding.ive ridden everything from cruisers thru to blades,but these are a different ball game.any info gratefully received.

they are very susceptible to pressure ive found the work best for me with 32psi front and 34psi rear.road use

they will take some getting used to but once you do you'll love them

There are better tyres for riding in the wet, they are fine in the dry, lots of threads on this subject, should keep you entertained all night, if i have them on a bike tend to ride slower in the wet a lot slower!

I use TKC's my last stint with a couple of sets was about 11k - in this weather just be a bit careful with them until they are scrubbed in, this wet weather leaves etc doesn't lend its self to scrubbing in really.

If you haven't ridden with them before I'd suggest a long dry ride next chance you get to get used to the 'quirks' that they have - they are a surprisingly good tyre on the road too, I had a couple of blasts around the TT circuit this year with TKC's on and they were fine.

As for wear and tear, back 3-4k front 5 -7k depending on how you ride, the back on will wear in no time with fast motorway speeds - (but thats not what they are for right ?).. for laning on GS'ble lanes IMHO, they are a must

Horses for courses, you wouldn't climb a fell in a pair of pumps and you wouldn't do a marathon in a pair of walking boots

1 bar = 14.5 pounds per square inch

So you're currently running 37.7 rear & 27.5 front. Chad's recommendation would be a good starting point.

Chad's setting should read 2.2 front & 2.3 rear (for road use) on your dashboard thingy.

I always find that 2.2 F an d2.5 R is best with TKCs on the GSA.

They are a Bias-Belted tyre so do feel quite different to your modern radial tyres; so could take a little while to adjust to. Once you get used to them they are fine for road use. Yes they do squirm a bit on white lines, overbanding and iron work in the wet. What tyres don't?

yes i know exactly what you mean having fitted my first set recently and was ready to take them straight back off,,, im not sure if they get better with a few hundred miles on them or if you just get used to them but they have really grown on me and i will be replacing them with the same when these are worn out

You'll get used to em Jim!!! I use em all the time now unless doing a long ride. I found they totally change the feel of the front end all together, but I don't mind it...

Personally I run 2.5 rear, and 2.1 in the front, but might let some out for laning depending on conditions...

Anyway, lets hope for a clear day soon so we can get out and do some lanes

It appears that counter steering does not work with these on the road and white lines cause spin ups.
