whats the comfortable riding/autobahn bashing speed on the bike? is the fairing as good as the 1150rt, ive ridden that, the fairing is fab.

ive ridden loads of 1150s but never an 1100, any noticeable difference in power?/performance.

10 hp in power

Lower 5th, but it really pulls - 90mph @ 5000rpm

No Servo ABS

I would have a 1100RT, I think

Check underneath as you wouldn't believe some of the rot underneath both 1100/1150RT's

Front downpipes are a good indicator as to the rest of the condition of the bike:augie

I'm currently using an R1100RT as a loan bike, it's great to ride - after giving it a good fettle it is without doubt one of the smoothest 1100 bikes i've ever ridden.

Ask the customers who've used it , two have tried to buy it off me - todays customer is coming back tomorrow to take it out on a longer test ride and wants to throw lots of spondulicks at me for it..

whats the going rate

i'm coming to the conclusion this may be the way to go,whats a 30k bog standard bike worth in nice fettle.?

On autobahn

I tavelled across Gemany on one a few years ago. 500 miles in 6 hours including 3 stops for food & fuel.
Bike crused an an indicated 115 mph.
Any faster & I would have taken longer, because I would have needed an additional fuel stop.

whats the going rate for a nice one with full luggage?

About 3 to 4 grand
More for a really spotless one. I would get the latest 1100 you can.

They all have luggage, it was impossible to buy them without side cases. If a bike has not got luggage there is a reason for it.

Test ride

i went to watford to have a look at '98 r1100rt, a very nice machine indeed, 22k, side cases, tank bag,sat nav mount, corbins f and r, for £2950, what a first class cracking machine, all good, except i hated it, couldnt get on with it,it was just cramped by comparison with the gs, it felt all wrong.
Its a shame really on paper it ticked all the right boxes, but i just didnt feel at home on it.
Ah well, that ends this thread. Its strange really i had an 1150 rt and that felt fine, i seem to remember the bars being a lot wider on the 1150rt too.Dunno, bloody motorbikes..
details here,be quick though was a nice bike wont hang round long

Same bars, and same riding position as the 1150

I bought mine in march for £1200 needing a clutch/oil seal with 50k

some nice ones around £2500 with 40k

£3000 for 30k

brilliant bike - obvioulsy the 1150 is newer/faster/more economic but then they are £4 - 5000

pay careful attention to discs as they are expensive.

brilliant handling and comfort, starts to get a bit harsh over 90 mph.

I just bought a Pan st1100 to see what they are like and to be honest the BMW is better in every respect except engine smoothness and gearchange.

Felt Cramped?

Shame you didn't adjust the seat to a higher poistion.

If it's on it's lowest setting, you're too close to the foot pegs and your knees will feel like they're round your ears...

Takes 30 seconds and there are a useful few inches of adjustment.

IIRC that bike was fitted with Corbin and was most probably on the low setting, difficult to get the rear Corbin on with the front Corbin on high and if that's the case, then it will have felt cramped
