most dealers seem to be saying we can't discount because it's a brand new model, it seems some dealers are looking after there valued customers with deals and discounts so did you get a deal? what dealer?

Are you not a valued client anywhere? I dont sell motor bikes but I do have valued customers, They provide me with the least hassle and maximum profit, they make the day pass nicely, they need rewarding. if I sold bikes, but I dont, they would probably have a new bike off me regularly and have it serviced with me as well, as before they need rewarding. It takes time to build a valued customer basis.
On the other hand you get what deal will you give me clients! or I will take my business else where! type clients. Them Im less likely to court with favours.

£300 off the bike and 10% off accessories ie crash bars, tank bag, akro but declined the akro i prefer the stock.

valued client? id like to think so david, my third new GS from same dealer in 4 years all cash deals, no p/x, im stuggling to get a bit of discount off the sat-nav you need because no other fits, never mind the bike:confused: i fell for the line "its a new bike mate and BMW wont allow us to knock owt off sorry" :rob

I didn`t get a discount. They were very agressively NOT into discounts and TBH it cheesed me off. I was even told that the new panniers wouldn`t be discounted either.

There is another reason why I am abit miffed which I won`t share in an open forum but, take it from me, it aint all `lets hug the customer.....`

but with that said nobody held a gun to my head and I am looking forward to the bike :roll

i wish i had the will power to leave it for 6 months to let it all settle down but i haven't :blast some dealers have took advantage of it, supply and demand i suppose:(

Thats sad ! There is a balance and greater market share doesnt equate to best practice.

what dealer ding dong?

Pm sent with details.

I wonder if you could get a few tossers together that are committed to buy even 2, would it give more negotiating on discount ! if your interested in this drop me a pm .

My new LC is the fourth GS I've purchased from my dealer, so with this in mind they looked after me, and a mutually beneficial deal was reached. I don't think it would be fair to them for me to disclose what deal they did, as every circumstance is different, but needless to say I didn't pay list price:thumb:beerjug::JB

At the end of the day they all need to meet monthly target sales regardless who you are if they need a sale and you flash the cash they'll discount how much i suppose depends on the deal, some dealers don't want cash as there making less they want your px so on paper work it looks like they have given you a discount, but in theory they have just moved figures on your px around.

Wouldn't have thought they make that much on the new stock anyway, reckon there's more profit for them on the used p/x deals they do ?

Do you recon? I think a second hand or new bike is one unit, If you want to know what they make on a new bike Id look at the mark up on a trade in. But I am guessing.

after a friendly phone call to the sales manager of my local dealer today im now very happy:D collect my white TE tomorrow:aidan

same here, 3rd BMW from I suspect the same dealer, looked after me good and proper. Wouldn't even think of going anywhere else, anyways someones got to pay for the nice showroom!!:D

I tried one while having mine serviced, and asked what the cost to change was. It turned out to be book-bottom for mine (immaculate, full history etc, all the options), against full price on the new one that they have sitting unsold in the showroom. Full price including, of course, the £300 delivery charge, for a bike that they've bought, and had delivered, and don't have a buyer for.

Anyway, I've countered them, at a price that's about 10% off on the new one. If they want to deal at that price, I'll have a new bike, if they don't I'll enjoy the current one for a bit longer (although a bit less than I would had I not tried the new one...)

I'll let people know the outcome.

Well, I didn't go out to buy a bike, and if he's got one that he needs/wants to sell then it's a bit strange that I pay every penny for his and accept rock bottom for mine.

I'm happy for him if someone else buys it, but for a start I'm not going to pay delivery charges on a bike that's sitting in front of me unsold, that'd be mental.

I do think it's a big improvement on my 2008, mind.

I didn't really get any sort of a deal, they aren't lost for buyers right now. I did a deal in a trade in where the dealer said he was giving me more than he was getting, when I decided to not do the trade in, I still "kept" the extra. Not a big deal but at least it's something.

Nothing offered for additional accessories so I'm going my own way with Touratech so they lost business there really, I'd have sprung for luggage with a better deal offered.

Being local I've been trying to have a deal with Pidcocks whom I've dealt with many times previous and there was some discount being applied for a straight sale on the bike and discount on accessories as my previous post however in the end they let me walk out the door for the sake of £35 ! and there last statement was you will not find a better deal, and the bike would have been delivered in may.

One phone call later sat morn to another dealer i pointed out I'm wanting to buy now and what I've been offered and what id like and they gave me exactly that more discount was given on the bike than pidcocks and the same on accessories and my racing red is due nxt week..

Happy days
