I have just received & installed a Motorrad GPS mount type IV on my 1200 GS. My favorite screen position is the low setting as I find that position generates the least turbulence. The Motorrad frame hits the windscreen in the two places shown. The mounting frame is as far up as it will go, short of drilling holes.
To prevent damage to my screen I have stuck two velcro pads on the inside as bumpers.... :nenau
On the positive side, screen stability has improved........ :thumb

When the screen is in it's lowest position there should be at least 3-4mm clearance between our mount and the inside of the OE screen.

Our experience suggests incorrect fitting of the screen.......

The two black screen supports that hold the bottom of the screen to the silver coloured subframe should be pointing upwards...they are clearly marked left & right but you'd be surprised how many dealers fit them incorrectly.

Also there is a 'top hat' spacer which fits through the screen from behind, to move the screen away from the screen mounts a little and another plastic washer at the front all held in place by the torx screws.

Certain aftermarket screens are a little flatter across the area near the GPS mount and a couple of washers between the 'top hat' spacer and the black mounts is usually enough to move the screen away from the mount sufficiently.

Finally, we have also noticed small variations in the construction of the silver coloured subframe that supports the screen, in particular the angle at which the front tab is welded on to the hoop and the thickness & quality of the welds themselves.

If you continue to experience problems, please telephone our technical support on 0131 663 1012.

Cheers
