Anyone interested in going further south?

Done two solo trips to Morocco (on road & piste) and met up with and rode with several bikers on both trips. Went as far south as Tin Tin on the last trip.
I'm now retired so time off work is not such an issue, and I'm beginning to turn my mind to yet another trip, but this time going down into the Western Sahara, Mauretania, Senegal, and possibily Gambia & Mali.

Not particularly drawn to the idea of an 'organised trip a la Fanum (nothing personal )

I've done some basic research and am wondering if there are any like-minded GSers out there with similar thoughts?
I'm looking at Spring '08.

I'm planning on doing that trip in March next year. Leaving Easter 2008 which is early and taking a couple of weeks to get down. Spending a couple of weeks in The Gambia in early April and then riding back to get back end of April.

Done Gambia by car and Morocco by bike so know what to expect.

Sept to Nov wasn't bad.

It was 42.5C (108.5F) near Goulimine a couple of weeks ago, and I had to head for the coast. But then last October was quite cool.

Average temperature for Dakar Sept - Nov is around 31C (86F) and about the same for Banjul. Marginally lower in Dakar in Apr and marginally higher in Banjul in April.

Bamako about 88F in Oct but 104F in Apr.

Coasts will always(????) be cooler.

You pays your money and takes your choice.
