Anyone make locking wheel nuts suitable for the GS?

Adam, Don't take it personally. We're only offering our opinions.

It'd be obvious if there was copper grease/anti-slip, so I guess that's wasn't the problem.

I only mentioned this, as my garage guy is one of the best I've known, but he still put copper slip on my bolts, as this is pretty standard for most bikes. BMs are the only ones I know that don't use it (though TBH this is the first single side swing arm bike I've owned. The others had an axle nut to tighten). Only noticed the grease when I changed the rear suspension.

Oh and it was 60 Nm I used to tighten my (cleaned) bolts.

That's fine chap. I understand the score with copperslip. It's one of my pet hates (there's a couple of fun threads about it on visordown and the revcounter;)). Quite why anyone lubricates something they want to stay done up I do not know.:nenau

But for others to suggest that it most likely came off due to incompetence when they know nothing of the tyre fitter or indeed myself is just typical of the holier than thou attitude of some around here.

WTF are you tightening to that setting.:eek

Oops
WTF indeed. I doubled that...............should of course be XXXNm !

Its being a busy day.........this little lass arrived into the family....

have you checked your torque wrench against another?, the springs can feck up on them?

Awwww.....that's one cute pup....looks very sad though :(

Getting back to the topic.....I've never seen (but admittedly haven't looked) for locking WN's for a bike.....No Idea why, as thinking about it, I'm sure they make LWN's the same weight as the normal WN's so balance would't be an issue (which would make more of a difference to a bike's light wheel than a car's relatively heavy tyre and wheel)

I've just done a couple of searches on ebay and a couple of bike sites and I can't even see any listed.....I only went through the first few pages though :nenau

No No No !!!!!

Please stop giving out duff info on the site, especially on Torque settings. RTFM.

It's 60NM

No Lubricant

(Somebody taking your earlier figure as gospel could damage their bub, wheel or worse still, themselves.)

I suppose it would depend on someone reading the profile of the person posting to see that he owns an 1150GSA and then knowing that XXXNm is correct for his bike. :nenau

Of course, if when posting torque figures, the bike was specified, it would clear things up slightly (we wouldn't want an 1150 owner to only do up his wheel nuts to 60Nm would we?).;)

Last time I looked, this was the 1200 technical section.

Sorry. I wasn't aware that owners of non-1200's were not permitted in here.

(I only come in to read daft stuff like someone trying to steal wheel nuts).

Really? Haynes lists 105nm for the wheel nuts on the 1150...is that 60nm for the 1200 then - wonder why its lower its the "same" bike.

More nuts on the 1200 (as this thread proves). :augie
