Evening folks,

Anyone running Michelin sport 6’s?

If so interested to see what your getting out of the rear?

Mines have just clocked over 4k and still not looking bad.

Yep running them on mine and currently at 8k but they are squaring off and doubt they will pass MOT in September even with my lack of use. Getting changed next week.

Normally get between 4K and 5K but tend to change before a trip, if in any doubt whatsoever. Great tyres and always my default buy. I have had quite a few punctures over the years but the grip and handling trade off is worth it.

Last few Pilot Sport 6 rears I have just got 7 K out of them , 2 rears to 1 front.
On the Pilot Sport 5`s I always got 6k from the rears , again 2 rears to 1 front.

Sorry, Yes Road 6 . I was using Pilot sport car tyres ,( Not on the bike) :)
Just noted on the op`s post SPORT that is where my brain must have been triggered.

My bad gents, I put sport and should of said road sorry.

I’m next going to use the bike for a trip to France so think I’ll keep going out of interest more than anything see what I get..

Can easy change on trip if needed..

Yes I had one puncture in first 200 miles and since they’ve been fine. Like someone said, the grip and confidence they provide is amazing even in wet.

Front looks like new.

Yup. Running PR6 front and back and no issues so far. Easy to get rid of any chicken strips :)

I think I will try these as well next time.

Anyone has experience with these compared to the conti trail attack 3? (I currently use these).

Do you think they'll be cheaper in France? Might get a deal on 2 sets if I decide to treat the old girl;)

Not the 6s but the 5s and found the ta3s a better tyre for me. Last quite a bit longer turn in better and not so prone to puncture.

I think the main problem with the 5s and 6s is the very narrow slit in the tread pattern allowing small stones, debris, crap to build up unseen in there and as the tyre wears the small pieces of stone etc get pushed through the carcass causing a puncture, well that’s my theory anyway.

The trail attacks sure last long, no doubt about that! Plenty of thread left on the current set, but due to some long autobahn days in hot weather they are quite squared off in the middle.

I have not checked how squishy the sidewalls are on the Road 6 - I fully understand they are a well regarded tyre, but the costs are also an issue. After seeing in this post so many running them, it would be good to compare... I even checked and on Michelin's fitment pages amongst three tyres types they state as suitable for the 2005 to 2012 GS the Road 6 is their clear recco

This seems at odds to Dunlop. Somehow they bother to make five suitable tyre types for these old GS', but of the road focused ones (as I found) they do not recco the newest squishy sidewall RoadSmart 4, only the one I know suits the telelever, the RoadSmart 3 with its really stiff sidewalls

Also worth noting Dean Harrison was riding like a raving nut job last week and clearly won both big boy TT races on Metzeler tyres.

It's more a sizing issue then a recommendation issue. They don't make the roadsmart 4's in the correct size. So all v-stroms, modern smaller gs's are all out of luck. It's no longer a viable size to manufacture for them, that's it.

They are available in the size of the newer gs's/ multistrada's and such.

Only used the 6's on my 1250GSA. I like them a lot and I only ever ride on the road. They last well enough for me and I have confidence in them. I have only used the road series on my last 3 bikes so have stuck with what I trust.
Michelin has a cash back offer on the tyres
