anyone tried 17 inch front wheel yet?

I am a little surprised bmw don't offer an SM option, not much expense to create an extra model in the lineup.

KTM had that market to themselves. The smaller front is going to turn quick but it's the tyre options that would give all the extra grip.

Had a few supermoto singles as well as the KTM 950SMR and 690SMR. With the soft SM tyres the corner speeds are something else. The high riding position giving the view ahead an advantage on road.

Your other option is to fit Pirelli scorpion 3 tyres to a standard bike which have a lot more grip than the usual dual purpose adv rubber.

Bmw did the 650x SM model which I had. That was a great bike but let down by the hopeless tank range

i did the 17 front wheel conversion also rear wheel from K1300s with 190 rear boot on my GS from new, along with Ohlins TTX, nothing come close on uk roads, not even my Panigale R with carbon wheels

Which front wheel did you use, does the abs / traction control recalibrate automatically

sounds like a gs1300 with some lightweight 17 wheels will be just the ticket for blating around on.

as said I'm surprised it's not a option from BMW.

there's no big supermotos anymore. it's funny how the 950 hypermotards are considered to be middleweights nowadays!

17 inch front wheel won't make anyone faster. No matter how "flickable" it is you'll still get destroyed by a hard rider on a full luggage GSA

if i recall correctly we were to get an R1300GS, R1400GS (which is the adventure) and an M1300GS which may have been the small wheeled lighter one similar to the M1000XR. (may be off with the model numbers but youll get the idea.

I bought a new RT front wheel and it fitted right in on my 1200, so I assume that the 1300 will do likewise. Let RealOEM be your friend........

17 inch wheels on my 1300 from new. Now have 12000 miles on it.

could you give some riding impressions with 17's on?
my biggest concern was decking out the cylinder heads constantly

Willie G., from Hardley Ableson, coulda spannered summit together by now with that logic :D

These:

As to ‘ just buy an RS, xyz, something else’. Missing the point completely, the riding position on the GS is perfect for back road hustling with the wide bars, add in the now very grunty engine with punch out of corners…
