I am a little surprised bmw don't offer an SM option, not much expense to create an extra model in the lineup.
KTM had that market to themselves. The smaller front is going to turn quick but it's the tyre options that would give all the extra grip.
Had a few supermoto singles as well as the KTM 950SMR and 690SMR. With the soft SM tyres the corner speeds are something else. The high riding position giving the view ahead an advantage on road.
Your other option is to fit Pirelli scorpion 3 tyres to a standard bike which have a lot more grip than the usual dual purpose adv rubber.
