anyone use tkc80's

fitted a set of tkc 80's to my 1150gs this afternoon thought i would take them out and scrub them in got to the first bend feck me i thought i was off handling is very strange to say the least,,it feels like the front just falls in very quickly but the rear does not want to follow which gives a kind of hinged in the middle feeling ,,is this normal with tkc's i must add i never balanced them as i never do with the tourances ,,,would balancing make a difference ???? any thoughts from tkc riders gratefully received ...cheers gord

Always like that you get use to the after some miles,

Take a short while to scrub in and the front has very sideways feel when new. Easier into bends, drivee out

Firstly you have to get used to them. There is a progression as you move across the tread and it takes a bit of adjusting to. I'm never sure whether it gets easier over time or whether you get used to it.

Second I always balance my wheels, why wouldn't you?

Brilliant tyres though, just be a bit more carefull when cornering enthusiativally in the wet. They let go earlier than Tourances but are much more progressive

Front does that, but I am running it in combination with a Heidenau 14 K60 at the rear, it drops into corners and the rear is lively on our roads in spring which is just gone (lasred about a week)....

Imagine 5 months of no rain in winter, then a few showers and the 5 months of deisel and oil (this is not Europe MOT on sale only, keep it 20 years it has no MOT for 20 years etc) all the gump lifts to the surface of a tar designed for summer heat and white lines with no "grip stuff" added....it keeps you awake...

Just for reference, MID WINTER in JHB is JULY ummm Football World Cup etc, for TV rights played probably 8 or 9 PM the games will be played at around -5C without wind chill at a mile above sea level... should be fun

TKC 80`s

I have them on my HP2 and yes they are a bit vauge at speed but if you start to get a bit woobly put your weight forward.. that usually helps - but brill tyres for GS stuff

You'll soon get used to them.
It's when you go from TKC's to Tourances that you will really notice the difference.

I love them, I don't balance mine either, you do get used to them and they handle great when your used to it.

i usually run tourances but got a set of TKC on the cheap.
saved tehm for a while for some dirt trips that never happened and no runt ehm normally.

good tires but you are right about the turning in

if doing long miles then I would prefer tourances

I am in Far North Australia and so its been dry for months, could be different in the wet though
