I think Paris is a marvellous place and the people are no ruder than any other big city, particularly London.

We had a great night in Le Puy-en-Velay last July, getting p*ssed in a bar owned by a Brit with a French wife.

Briancon was a bit of a dump, until we discovered the old town the following morning Fantastic roads though

Limoges was a dump too, but it was just an overnight on the way to the Pyrenees and we were soon in the Dordogne the next day

Personally I think the first week in July is ideal to head South then head back up to the North before Bastille Day as South of Orleans tends to celebrate it for a couple of days.

So Steve ... how was France this year in the first two weeks of July

Lockyour stuff up, we stayed at a campsite the other day and were woken at 4am to the sound of someone having their car nicked, theiving gits are evrywhere, a pacsafe also makes a good tie up for your kit to stop light fingers.

Avoid the Paris Peripherique.

Other than that, France is wonderful.
