So has anyone with an Intel Apple tried using Boot Camp to create an XP partition, and then loaded their Garmin sat nav system yet?

No Apple here as yet, as I'm waiting for Rev B stuff, but would be interested to find out :D

what's there to find out - its windows running on intel, so everything will be as expected! But check www.macrumors.com - 'virtualisation' is more interesting and should give you similar (speed) results without having to re-boot just to run some silly .exe. Additionally, didn't garmin announce that they are working on osx versions of their mapping software?

Regards,

Jonathan.

Oh, and the MacBooks are at rev. D currently

They did, but not available until end of this year, start of next, last I heard.

The question was more to see that it did work - like you, I see no reason why not, but anythings possible :nenau :D

Also, mention of this might nudge Intel Mac users into realising about Boot Camp if they haven't heard, especially as Boot Camp is only available for a short time from what I've read, and then will come out properly with Leopard :nenau

Garmin on mac

...I still think virtualisation will be more interesting in day to day use; I've used Garmin software on my ppc mac previously with 'virtual pc' and had no problems whatsoever, and with the intel-macs this will be running at very near native speed - all without having to re-boot the mac!

personally, I am waiting for a 'portable' intel-mac to replace my ageing but still very useful 12" powerbook :mmmm

Ditto on a new Intel iBook or PowerBook - the MacBook Pro is out of my price range, but the other two would be options.
