Can anyone draw me a picture of how to remove the visor from an Arai Maverick helmet. I'm used to the shoei system and the arai one seems to involve a degree of force at the right moment :yikes - whats the trick to removing them ?

No good at drawing pictures, but can tell you how I do it. Lift visor to highest point, push small lever visible in visor/helmet join upwards, then pull visor outwards and slightly upwards, one side at a time.. Does take a decent tug to remove. When refitting, ensure that the visor is in line with the slot behind the cover, or else when you close the visor, said cover will fly off! I have seen people make it look very easy, sadly I'm not one of them!

Don't be concerned about applying quite a bit of pressure to the lever that pops up when you fully raise the visor. It does require quite a bit of pressure to relase the visor.

Cheers guys - I'll have another try tonight. When the visor is fully up it just touches the air vent on the top of the helmet but I didn't know about the lever so I'll check that tonight when I'm home.
I need to take it off to clean it properly and I've got an anti-mist thingy to fit on it in preparation for the winter.

Also when you put it back on open it fully then close it fully a couple of times it should be a smooth action. When I first got my lid I put the visor back on and thought nothing of it being a bit 'tight', until I put it up at a junction and the side pod popped off accross the road.

I was in Infinity the other day, and the young guy was trying to convince me that I really NEEDED an Arai RX7 Reynolds Celebration helmet.

Now, I confess that I'm more than a tad smitten by the colour and pattern, and the fit is quite OK.

However, when I queried how easy it is to remove the visor when compared to my Shoei Z-One, and I watched said salesman show me how quick and easy it is ..... the poor guy really struggled.

He even pulled a different helmet form the display and had much the same difficulty.

It did seem to require a lot more force than the Shoei.

Click on the 'Is there an easy way to change my Super ADSis® shield?'

And now you can downlad the video relevant to your helmet type

Its easy once you've done it a few times, but the first time you try it...you WILL think something is going to break with all the clunking and cracking noises :D

Removal is easy, but replacing is trickier....the thing to remeber is the position of the pivots that go into the cut outs on the visor. You have to have the visor tilted higher than you think to get these to engage. Anyway the video shows it all! (note the first half of video where they show a helmet with clear side pods so you can see how the visor engages the pivots).

BTW watch the whole vid, as the LRS (Lever release ) system isn't covered until halfway through.
