Are GSA bars slightly higher than ones on a standard GS?

Got myself a GSA on order, and I took bar risers, just TT 15mm ones, off my 14 plate GS.

Are the GSA bars higher? , wondering whether to bother with the risers, anyone have recent experience of both bikes (GS/GSA)?

I'm pretty dam sure that you have exactly the same chassis, same bars and same seat mounts on both bikes.

I didn't notice any difference going from GS-LC to GSA-LC and back to GS-LC

I seem to remember measuring the bar widths and they were identical.

I have had both and ridden them back to back and I think the GSA bars feel higher but it might just be me. The one thing I am relatively certain of is that there is different chassis geometry which is going to translate into a difference at the bars, albeit minor.

If it matters I have risers on my GSA now as it helps when commuting as it takes the bars over the car mirrors and under the transit mirrors

Doesn't the perceived height of the bars depend on the seat height? The GSA is taller than the GS so you would have thought the opposite is true. Having had both (more than once) the GSA bars feel lower to me and I feel the need to put bar risers on (up and back) whereas with the GS I just rotated the bars back slightly.

I never thought about the bars. I've had both and they seem to fall naturally to hand. I've used risers on a f800gsa. Can't remember why. Got them cheap probley. JJH

Cheers all for the replies, sounds negligible diff, think I will see how I go first few hundred miles n then decide whether to bother. Desperate to get the bike now, two months to go.

If you have a torx socket, just rotate the bars round a little. It helps personalise the bike to you and will raise the handles, obviating the need for raisers
