Is the r1200GS engine the same as the other breed of 1200cc bikes like the r1200s, r1200st?

They share the same basic engine, but they have different tuning according to the type of bike.

Top end on a boxer engine? Didn't think it existed :)

I'll have to try and find some power and torque curves for them. I'm sure we can free up some extra horses witout sacrificing low end torque. I'll look in to it an let you know.

No point in putting high octane in ours but the rt will produce a few more horses with it, this way they have a bit more power (the S may have quite a bit more). So basically the same but with different tune/set-up.

I had a 1200S for the day a while ago. It deffo hasn't got the same engine internals, much more top end. Unfortunately it did feel like it has got the same gearbox. On the GS, the gearbox is fine as long as you are 'deliberate' with changes, whereas on the S, the higher revs and different riding style show up the agricultural nature of the 'box.

BTW, despite gearbox, I still thought the 1200S was a fine bike :thumb
