Well are they???? If you bought a bike and had it a month or so and only put 500 miles on it would you be a little fucked off if you tried to sell same bike and got offered £1000 less than you piad for it??? I was and am. I know there are overheads and other such bollocks but it does rather erode any goodwill you might have built up to with this certain stealer??? Oh yes but its got another owner now, yeah so what, Oh and we have to stick another warranty on it, err no you fucking dont its already got one, so maybe you have to extend it by a month. WOW, Oh and by the way when you buy a new bike from us we'll stick a years tax on it. Oh fucking really so why not with mine????

Motor traders are in the business to make money.
Not difficult really.
Absolutely correct, but if I knew I would be getting repeat business from a certain individual or group I think I would look at seeing if I could help them as opposed to trotting out the old "sorry mate we gotta make a living too"

So anyone care to gimme a breakdown of just exactly how much expense there would be in restocking a customers bike that they had just bought from you?? I have to say I dont understand the "thats my price take it or feck off" philosophy and it could maybe seriously backfire.... Recession or not.

I can see this only going one way :-(

Why don't you sell your current bike privately (here) then buy your newer/ different bike from a place of your choice?

Simples .....!

I think your doing well that the dealer is taking it at all if your not happy go to another dealer and see how you do. The year will turn before the dealer sells it. I think you are doing well. Of course you could always put it on here and see how you do. JJH

Look at it another way. If you went to buy a new bike and the dealer offered you a second hand one with 500 miles wouldnt you expect to pay someway less than a spanky brand new one? I certainly would

Wrong time of year then

No people with cash, swmbo has a tight rein on the purse strings

Nobody interested in bikes at this time of year unless v cheap & £4500 seems a lot for a 28k bike as a private sale, more like a dealer price

Sorry - it's reality

Let me guess £2500 & your bike for a 2011 ORS 12GS @ £5995 :-)

SWMBO just got a 2009 registered F650GS in an almost identical spec, but with the addition of ABS, but no luggage. It has only done 4400 miles and it was £5400. It came with the 1 year Motorrad warranty and is taxed until the end of May 2012. I think for a bike a year older with 28000 miles that the price is a bit high.

When you bought the bike did you trade something in against it, if you did then the dealer already did some magic probably by offering slightly more on the trade in.

What you gain one way you lose another, and to be honest the price on here is a little high given the mileage.

Welcome to Cloud Cuckoo Land.

thats life

thats just the way it is fella . i bought a new bandit in 2007 rode it home and for a week after and bloody hated it . sold it to dealer at a loss of 1300 quid . take the hit and move up . and smile its christmas day :beerjug:

Dealers just take the piss - full stop.

Accept it.

Move on.

Put yourself in their shoes, they are in business to make profit, not to help you out. I think too many people fool themselves into thinking that brand loyalty is worth something. It's actually worth Jack Shit.

Just a drop of a £1,000.00 eh ... I don't think that bad misen :thumb

It's not a charity out there :nenau

Be glad it's not a Ducati, that would lose two to three thousand pounds as soon as it went out the door ... even known the selling dealer not wanting to take it back at any price

You've advertised the bike and no peeps yet, well that should tell you something ... it's too dear or it's the wrong time of year. So it's quite commendable that the dealer would take it back from you for a 1K less!
