Just got me a Autocom 200 for £100 also got the bluetooth dongle for £175 the bluetooh was expensive but It is a very good expansion for this unit

I think the best thing with the 200 is that you can run it on a 9v battery also which is very handy I most say. Specially for me who dont have a clue to how to connect it to the bikes battery hehe:thumb2

I managed to connect the Mp3 player and my phone via the extension leads provided its a lovely thing this Autocom.

Anyways just wanted to say If anyone is looking for extensio lead for the autocom dont buy it from autocom .

These are regular 3,3mm and 2,5 mm lead and converters which you can get for pennies from ebay store of china or hong kong.

I got me a USB charger for my phone (which cost £25 in uk) for 69p included postage!!!! thats a bargain

If the cheap leads work for you, that is excellent. The Autocom ones are expensive but they are good quality and some come with inline resistors to cut intereference. I needed to use them to cut out electrical interference from the bike.

I have the same unit on my R1150R for rider pillion, MP3 and sat nav.

When I first got my autocom it sat in my jacket pocket for the first few weeks, but the constant stops to change the battery were a pain. So I hard wire it to the bike.

It may be worth running the unit on batteries as I did, so that you can get the settings right before installing on the bike, carrying it in your pocket makes it accessable and saves you from getting off the bike every time you want to tweak the settings.

I fitted mine under the pillion seat and fed the coms leads along behind the plastic side panel and out between the seats. When not in use I raise the pillion seat and tuck them between the seats where they are held in place on top of the rear mudgaurd by a piece of velcro.

The power cable is fed into the fuse box via the drain hole at the bottom right front corner of the box. You can push a stiff piece of insulated wire up through the hole and pull the power lead with it.

To power the unit I pulled the fuse for the heated grips ( fuse No 7.) and folded the bared end of the positive cable over the front blade of the fuse and pushed it back into place in the box. This way you only get power to the autocom when the ignition is on. The earth cable is connected to the top suspension mount under the front seat. Use a 1 amp inline fuse on the live cable to avoid problems.

Other people have taken power by using piggy back connectors from the tail light, but I am not sure if this works on BMW's with A.B.S.

This set up has worked fine for the past 2 years.

The main thing with this install is to take time and care with the routeing, making sure none of the cables get pinched by the seat or trim.

Hope this helps.
