Hi, any thoughts on...

Autocom 200 powered from bike (1200 GSA). Been fine up to today when...

1. Huge amounts of static and electrical noise on the pillion headset.

2. Rider headset going to mono.

3. Vox appearing not to work on both headsets.

4. Unit going dead completely then coming back to its faulty state as described above..

I've tried both headsets on both sockets and swapped leads around. No real clue as to the source of the problem. I also use in-ear speakers and get the same problems when using these (with the appropriate lead) on both connections.

Power connection to the bike seems sound (wired to back of the accessory socket). Only other apparent damage is a split in the insulation at the pillion connector. This has been there for several months and has been well covered with insulation tape etc.

The unit was located in the instruction book holder by the installing dealer so I'm wondering if water ingress has caused this (the bike's used all year)?

Any thoughts on how to narrow it down any further? As I say various combinations of leads and headsets have been tried and there's no apparent pattern.

I would say due to where your system has been fitted (not recommended) it has got water inside as this is the most common problem we find with the 1200GS's. I would advise you to send your system back to us for inspection as we would know a lot more then once we have got it in front of us.

Thanks for the quick reply - you have a pm.

Sorted - thanks

Just a quick follow-up to thank Rich and Doug at Autocom for sorting out the problems with my kit (damaged pillion lead - actually 'rider' lead but fitted arse about face by dealer)- top notch service :thumb2
