I run an active plus with a zumo.

Zumo uses the proper lead in Aux 2 and works fine (if a little quiet)

I have a phone paired with the zumo and again, this works fine.

I want to connect a portable DAB radio (Pure highway) as well. How?

If I plug it (Radio) into aux 1 it kills all sound from the zumo, will aux 3 work? (was advised not to plug a radio in there but can't see why).

Would like to be able to listen to radio then get that interupted by the zumo.

Any constructive advice welcome,

Roger.

I have a similar setup - Super pro AVI, Zumo 550 and Pure DAB Radio.

I have the radio in aux 2 and the Zumo in aux 3. My reason for this is that Aux 3 is mono, whereas aux 2 is stereo. I did it this way as I didn't use the Zumo much for music.

When I went to Spain I moved the Zumo to Aux 2 and disconnected the radio so that I could use the Zumo for its MP3 playback.

I'm now considering getting a splitter so that both can be connected to Aux2 and come through in stereo. I'm also trying to figure out some kind of bar mounted volume control for the DAB as when it's bike powered you can't adjust the volume. It's also in the top box, so I have to stop if I want to turn it off - not good for the security barrier at work or toll booths etc.

I have put a splitter onto mine for mp3 & radio. Works a treat:thumb2

That's good to know. The only thing that's putting me off is the price of the isolated splitter (both Zumo and radio are bike powered). Last check it was £45

Sorry for the hijack but does the DAB radio need an externel antenna and what is reception like?

Thanks

I use the "windscreen aerial" that came with the pure highway. However, on my bike I have a Givi box which has a large red panel on the top which is hollow inside for fitting a brake light. I have put the aerial inside that.

It means it's out of the way, can't get damaged and all the cabling is contained within the top box, so if I need to remove it I only have to remove the 3.5mm lead which goes out of a small hole in the box and into my Autocom.

Due to how the Active was designed the AUX1 socket was the main phone socket

AUX2 Music or Zumo connection (the only stereo socket on the system)

AUX3 older mono GPS's and radar detectors.

So ideally you would a BT dongle (Part 1273) into the AUX1 socket paired direct to the Zumo to handle the phone side and GPS if not used for music

AUX2 std music lead for the music side

AUX3 Part 1285 with a Part 1293 running from the Zumo for the GPS side if not used via the Part 1273

Out of interest, what model of radio did you get and did you install it in your top box?

Paul

Thanks.....

Thanks Rich,

Have plugged the Pure Highway into Aux 3 and zumo into Aux 2 for the time being. Radio is fine and Zumo speaks at same time, only used for nav and camera warnings so easily heard.

I use an external antenna for better reception as I found the windscreen antenna was crap. It mag mounts to the top of my topox (small steel plate stuck on).

I have wired a small switch on my bars that kills power to the radio should I want to use the phone or listen to mp3 on the zumo. Works ok for me.

Hi Roger

What lead is being used into the AUX 3 socket as its set for a 4 Pole connection (3 blk rings around the tip of the jack plug) if a 3 pole (2 blk rings) it shorts the system and the VOX will be set to on all of the time as in live mics always.

Rich,

What is the correct cable then to plug the zumo into Aux3 (assuming that mono audio is acceptable)?

for the AUX3 route then mate you would need the Parts 1285 and 1293 combo if the Zumo is not going to be used for music. Works a treat that way and there will be no problems with the VOX side as the Part 1285 is designed for the AUX3 socket

Our of interest, could I plug part 1299 (without the mic lead) into port b on a 1317 (the none isolated port) and a standard stereo 3.5 to 3.5 (the one that comes with the kit300) into port a of 1317 to have 2 isolated stereo input sources?

I basically already have a standard lead and a 1299 (which I don't use for mic as the Zumo comes through BT) and got to wondering if there's a way I can have stereo from the Zumo and the DAB radio.

Thanks
Dae.

can you tell us what make and type of external aerial you bought?

Would you tell us what make and type of external aerial you use?
I have an R1200RT aerial mounted on one of my GSA 1200 panniers and wondered if you know whether it's possible to use it with a Highway DAB radio? The end of the RT aerial lead has a standard FM/AM type connector but the Highway has a socket for a jack plug. Are DAB aerials and FM aerials compatible with each other and if so is there a way to utilse my aerial with an adaptor? If not can you suggest a better solution? Cheers! Thanks Richard:comfort
