Autocom Fitting R1150GSA

can anyone help? I am trying to fit a autocom unit to my R1150GSA, I have been told that the best place for that is on the side of the battery housing under the tank. any opinions would be welcome second point is where to get the power from someone suggested the rear brake light feed, but that meters at 3 V. Only, someone also suggested from the fuse box, do you need to drop the fuse box bottom housing. In order to get to any usable wires, and if so which wire will be the best one to use any feedback would be appreciated. Thank you

I've fitted my Autocom Active 7 behind the battery (as you sit on the bike) with no problems. Took power from the power socket with a powerlet 90 degrees connector so it doesn't foul the feet.

I guess you could attach it to the power leads that go into the socket. Others have tapped into the horn circuit, IIRC, in the fuse box as well.

Top tip, don't tap into the brake or rear light power cables.

If you have ABS, the brake light circuit is in the start-up test (or something) and it plays havoc with the self-diagnosis.

Use fuse 4 (Horn).

There are different ways of making the connection. I chose to 'remote' the fuse holder like this...

It saves a lot of messing about with the fuse box. It's just some wire and some insulated female spade-connectors to take the blade fuse and two male connectors into the original fuse position.

But if I don't have ABS and have the intercom getting power from the rear lights, is there a problem with that?

thank you for your quick reply, the option to power it from the fuse in the fuse box. In that way, looks a good one to me. I tried to get to the fuse box
and found it quite fiddly. My bike doesn't have ABS, thank God, and the lead supplying the break light is only showing 3V.
