Sat at home suffering from flu (ok, man cold) and decided to fit my lids with the Autocom sets that I bought at the NEC. Anyway, what does everyone do with the Autocom lead that hangs out of the helmet when it's not in use ? I keep thinking that it's gonna flap about in the wind and become rather annoying. Is there any sort of clampy stick-on thingy (technical, or what ? ) that you could use to secure it up out of the road ?

It won't..that's exactly how mine is and it just hangs there no problem.

If you want though, go to an electrical retailer and buy a cable clip...they stick on and either have a plastic clip, or a bendy ghook to trap the lead or plug into.

Or as an alternative, you could use a 10mm cable clip to attach it to that big lump of wood :thumb

If this is a problem, you need to raise your seat height a bit.

I had two of those clips come with my kit

Yup, THAT'S what I'm looking for. :thumb

After the bloke at Autocom telling me on the phone yesterday that they didn't do anything to do this, I've found the part number for those clips on page 12 of the '06 catalog (pt no. 1550).

He probably said that they didn't do anything like that because thats not what they are for ... they are for keeping the leads on the bike secure...

I have seen a few people do this and I think its a bit ugly ... but more to the point I am not sure that the sticky stuff is ok to attach to a helmet...

I would leave it danglin' ... if it dangles down too much just poke it a bit further into the helmet...

I was in Hursts at Mallusk today who happen to be Autocom dealers. I bought two of those clips (£1.80) and fitted them this afternoon.

Result. :thumb

if you do attach the lead to your lid with a cable tie, dont put the tie round the lead-the flexing/abrasion soon cuts into the lead and then into the internal wires. Mine is zip-tied around the plug bit which seems to work ok and keeps it from snagging.
