Got a Autocom on my GS and have only ever used my MP3 player on it, previous owner also used his GPS on it and there is a 2.5mm jack plug ready for what i thought was my GPS, eventually got my QPAC yesterday, wired it in, plugged lead that goes to my autocom in and i get no sound.

The autocom has two sockets on it, Phone and Music the GPS is plugged into the phone one, is that correct? or can i only have one or the other? and the phone side is for phones only, i was hoping i could have both my music and the GPS and it would interupt etc.

It sounds to me like you need to buy a GPS lead. It plugs into the Grey din plug and goes to your GPS unit. This leaves the Music and Phone inputs for... you guessed it... your music and phone.

I think the lead was around £25 but that was a while ago...

I'm sure if you let us know what model Autocom you have that GSRich will come along with part numbers and prices....

It could also be that the 2.5mm plug is over travelling in the socket and thereby missing the contacts. Try pulling the plug out a mm and see if it works. If so, cut a plastic shim.

thanks guys, will go and check model in a bit (bikes outside work) dont have a grey din plug anywhere as far as i know, its an older version of an Autocom something live a version 7 i think.
When i plugged the 2.5mm pin in last night i got the usual sound as through my helmet as it made contact, but no sound. so could be that its going in to far. Looks like i will be busy at lunch time!

Active 7 Smart?

It should have two leads coming out of it. One is the one you plug your helmet into and has a black cover over it. The other one has a grey cover and is where you need to plug the special GPS lead into.

You can sort of see what I mean about the grey end in this pic

Just had a look and it is indeed a active 7 smart, and yes there is a grey lead as well. thanks V much for your help, I take it then this grey lead goes to a 2.5mm jack? if so where can i get one today in London! i am off on a trip tomorrow and it would be very handy!

Try Infinity shops, or Park Lane BMW.

Bugger, tried all the infinity shops and Park lane BM as well as a few other places and no joy, apparently the part number I need is 1294, which doesnt plug in to the greay plug, but goes into the little red and black box (splitter) that i have.
Will give the other cable that i have a go in the splitter box but apparently it dont work, looks like i will have power but no sound on this journey!

:clap:beerjug:Wohooooo:bounce1:bounce1:clap:clap

Just switched a few wires round and all of a sudden i have sound!

For some reason the splitter box (black and red thing) was plugged into my music plug, and my mp3 lead was coming out of phone plug?
swapped the splitter box over to the phone plug and plugged my mp3 in the correct whole and everything now works as it should! and it didnt cost me a penny!

Big thanks to all for the help, much appreciated
