Trying to decide which system to install on the GSA. I have the Starcom on my RT which works fine although I find their peripherals a little flimsy. I saw an Autocom system in my local dealers the other day and the whole thing looked much more sturdy. I would appreciate any views on this.

Starcom v autocom

Hi,
I have had a starcom system for about 3 years, and most of the time I have had a problem transmitting back to autocom riders. This includes a standard starcom and the advance. I think it is down to the microphones, which when I discussed with starcom they said thier open face mics are not waterproof. The latest of my mics did go down in a terrential rainstorm in Albania. Having said that the Starcom people are first class and have offered to set my system up if I went down on a week day. I do agree with you that it is their peripheral gear that flimsy, even their pins in their plugs twist through repeated use whereas autocom use din style plugs. The other riders in our group are on their first set of autocom gear but I have numerous mics and leads. Starcoms latest in the ear phones are great, but are flimsy-- I have just snapped a set, but fabulous sound quality. Dont know whether to re stock starcom or go over to autocom. Hope I havent confused you too much.

Not much help from me, as I am in exactly the same position, trying to decide between the 2 also for my GSA

I'm leaning towards Autocom as I favour the DIN plus used

Thanks for the comments guys. It is a majority of Autocom by looks of things. Going to order the Active Duo tomorrow morning and hopefully have it fitted next week. will let you know how I get on.

I have had my Autocom for 6 years now and never had a single problem with it. Had Starcom before that and got rid of it after a year. My main problem with the starcom is the open mic all the time, autocom's is only open when you talk.

Autocom have lots of accessories and they are chosen well. Rich(gsrich) at Autocom is very helpful and is quite often on here answering questions.
