Starcom v autocom
Hi,
I have had a starcom system for about 3 years, and most of the time I have had a problem transmitting back to autocom riders. This includes a standard starcom and the advance. I think it is down to the microphones, which when I discussed with starcom they said thier open face mics are not waterproof. The latest of my mics did go down in a terrential rainstorm in Albania. Having said that the Starcom people are first class and have offered to set my system up if I went down on a week day. I do agree with you that it is their peripheral gear that flimsy, even their pins in their plugs twist through repeated use whereas autocom use din style plugs. The other riders in our group are on their first set of autocom gear but I have numerous mics and leads. Starcoms latest in the ear phones are great, but are flimsy-- I have just snapped a set, but fabulous sound quality. Dont know whether to re stock starcom or go over to autocom. Hope I havent confused you too much.
