I have just re-installed my autocom easy plus as my active 7 smart was giving me some serious jip.

I had the old active 7 smart and a bluetooth connection (which is the old type of bluetooth) but once connected I could barely hear audio VOX was difficult to achieve and even shouting at my passenger was like whispering
So I went back to hard wire. Still the same....now left with a spanking new bluetooth adaptor.....are autocom's servicable?? as its worked fine - although, since the bluetooth adaptor has been part of the equasion there has been sporadic problems. they were hard wired together into the fusebox big green and black wire switched live. Earthed to frame

Right, I was looking at the autocom adaptor lead which plugs into the tomtom bluetooth adaptor.

I'm wondering if this is the way forward so I can use the phone function on the tomtom (answer / reject etc..) - as spending another £75 so close to the last £75 is not too good with the bank!

Does anyone know if the music functions on the phone (sony ericsson w850i) can go via the autocom/tomtom rider 1 bluetooth 'medium'? or will it just be phone and ''turn right at roundabout..."

Thanks for any tips in advance!

Which dongle are using on the Active-7 and you have totally lost me on the "going back to hard wire" as the Active-7 is not a portable system. Plus you are the olny person I know of that has had VOX problems with our dongles!! Your systems are fully servicable btw.

The full story!!!!!:mmmm
My mrs is learning to ride - I thought I'd be nice by getting her an autocom unit (I already had the active easy wired up to my bike) so I got the active rider because of its small size
Not knowing too much about these things I became aware when the Mrs's 125 showed up that it has a 6v battery :blast

So - the active easy came off my bike so she could use it with a battery

All sorted!...

The active rider worked a treat, perfect loud clear comms, music great, phone calls again great.

Then about 2 months ago my mate gets a bluetooth adaptor for his bike - great I thought!! so I got one for mine (the older type to fit the active 7 smart) - already the cogs are spinning - have I got the wrong dongle??

I fitted, hard wired into the fusebox with the main power lead for the unit - no problems but just before christmas the music volume was terrible, turning the volume on the unit did not effect the volume, it effected bass and the vox levels - I've tried all sorts but it makes no difference.
Pillion comms have gone back to taps on the leg to see if she's Ok!! no or barely audiable side tone so I'm presuming its fritzd.
Using the adaptor I used the cable directly to the phone via the phone socket on the autocom unit. So now I'm left with an old bluetooth dongle (well, technically new!!)

Re wired the easy plus and now, all is crystal clear, sidetone, music great, switched live on..

So this is now staying on my bike!

I really like the idea of bluetooth but also have the tomtom rider with the dongle, but I use my mobile for music mainly - being able to make and recieve phone calls is great for emergencies or if I'm on-call -

So, if your still awake! the question really boils down to the autocom to tomtom adaptor - can it be used for music (from phone) as well as ''a phone''

Sorry Rich, another one to add to your stupid questions list!:beer:

I think I have got you, the dongles are not designed for stereo sound so the music will not be the best of qualities compared with a seperate music source.

I've decided to stop being tight!
Got the autocom - tomtom lead + tested, great! volume not fantastic at 'higher' speed but under 40 great,
Audio from tomtom loud and clear - john cleese voice :clap
No music from phone though - for anyone thinking of trying it
So connected phone through original leads, stowed the tomtom dongle and everything works just fine.

Now to unleash the wallet and get a decent MP3.
