Err my "friend" doesn't have a clue. I would help him, but well my "friend" has to learn right?

"He's" got himself a nice new shiny zumo 660 and it pairs well with his phone, off the bike it works fine and can be used stand alone to make a receive calls. When on the bike "he" has an old Active 7, and the music and nav instructons come through OK. So I thought I'd try linking the phone in to see if I could get it to work. not 100% sure a phone on a bike is good idea but through I'd try. Found a 2.5mm (?) cable lying arouind and put into into the "phone" jack on the Active 7, and into the mic on the zumo bike harness. I can make a call but the volume received on the person called is very low, and I can't hear anything (even quietly) through the helmet.

Any ideas? Need a special cable? Will that make the received calls audible at a decent volume?

cheers

Markie

It should conect through the 660 via bluetooth no need for cable, this then gives you the volume control on the 660. is the 660 cabled to the helmet?? or via bluetooth

I guess I should have explained a little further.....

The Active 7 is connected to the helmet via a cable, I don't have a BT head set. So BT between phone and Autocom, cable to head set. Now I need to get the mic sorted (for volume) and sound from the hpne to te head set, and was hoping I just need a cable etc.

cheers

You need to connect the phone through the 660 and not your autocom unit using BT, but you need to delete the connection between the phone and autocom unit first, your 660 will then handle your phone and then onto your autocom through the cable.

Ian

yes, my Autocom does not have BT so the phone is paired with the Z660 via BT and that part works well.

The cable I had lying around that connected the Active 7 to the Z660 half worked, in that the person on the other end of the phone could hear me, but with low volume, and I could hear nothing they said. So I am looking for advice as to whether I need a proper cable (rather than one I found in a draw) or I need to do something else.

Perhaps a trip up to Leamington is required :)

cheers

Sorry Markie i see what your saying now :blast not ever owning the autocom im unfamiliar with the cables, thought it was a BT problem. Hope someone chips in soon to help you out :thumb

A Part 1300 would be needed for the correct connections as you can not use any lead to connect the Zumo. But beware the latest 660's are suffering with phone issues bigtime where the mics on the Zumo's are staying live and not connected to any headset connected whether its via a lead, Bluetooth our comms or indeed any comms.

Thanks Rich - I might hang off until the Z660 is sorted first - wil probably call your lot direct as I couldn't see the 1300 on your broucher.

Hi Markie,

No problems at all, as for seeing the part our 2009 brouchures are mainly covering our latest systems and spares. The Part 1300 is used on our systems pre 2006 so it will be fine for your Active-7.

Our number is 01926 431249

Zumo 660 Internal Microphone Issue

Hi GSrich & everyone

I got a Zumo660 a few years ago not long after it first came out and have had limited success with connecting it to my Autocom Active-7-Smart. My main issue has been with getting the autocom microphone signal to the mobile phone which is bluetooth-connected to the 660. I sort of twigged that the issue was with an internal microphone in the 660 as, when testing the phone connection, what they could hear from my phone sounded like air-rush with my voice in the distance i.e. me shouting behind the visor. However when I called Garmin tech support they denied that the 660 had an internal microphone - yet I see stuff on the internet saying it has!

What is / was the issue with the internal microphone staying live - and what can I do to turn it off?

I am using the standard Garmin mount with the built-in cables.

Can anyone help me? Thanks for listening!!!
