I've installed the AUX lights and about to install the relay.
Seems from previous posts I need to take the switching for the relay from the white wire (the Low beam headlight wire?)

Is this the correct wire?

Second... Where is the neatest place to tap into this wire?

It's a 12ADV, but I'll assume the wiring is the same for the 12GS

The thin wiring loom by the LH side of the headstock which goes to the lights is a good place. The actual loom on the lights is too difficult to cut open as access is tight. To do mine I slit open the cotton tape covering, then used a scalpel to remove some insulation from the white wire then tinned it and soldered on the trigger wire for the Autoswitch on my bike (relay on yours?). I then wrapped it in PVC insulating tape.

I managed to acquire some cotton wiring loom tape from my workplace to tape up the exposed loom for a factory finish. I grouped together the earths from the lights and Autoswitch and fitted a ring terminal, then connected it to the beak mounting frame at the same location on the LH side of the headstock. It looks neat and could easily be removed before selling the bike in the future if necessary.

You may get a bulb failure warning on first use, don't panic as this resets once the engine is started and only reoccurs when a lamp genuinely blows. Probably the resistance of the Autoswitch on the lamp circuit fools it the first time.

I wish now I had taken some pics during my install to make it clearer - sorry. :o

As above, but when installing the relay, ensure that the terminals are facing downwards. Mine collected water, which shorted the relay.
