Aux Plug Wiring

Hi all, can anyone tell me how to wire up the extra din plug I've just installed. there are 2 posts on the back of the din plug and 3 wires coming out of the wiring plug. Do I need all three wires? Thanks.

Centre wire not used as it's a pulsed signal

Wire 1 goes to the ground connection on your DIN socket
Wire 2 is not connected - tape the end up so it can't touch anything
Wire 3 goes to the positive connection on your DIN socket

Heat shrink sleeve does the best job, but self amalgamating tape has its place.
