Has anybody fitted a set of Avon Distanzia tyres on there GS ? what are they like and especially in the wet?

I need to replace my Tourances before a trip to europe soon

Have tried Dunlop Trailmax and liked them a lot even if they did not last as long as the Tourances i have now

I have seen the test in Bike magazine but interested in any second opinions otherwise its another set of Tourances which i find more than good enough

its a pity the Tourance EXP is not out yet as would have tried those

Many Thanks

Chris

I haven't tried them on a rainy day yet.
But they are great on the sunny days :clap

Yes, very good tyre. Used them in all sorts of terrain between Wales and Croatia. Wet, dry, extreme heat. Always good grip.

As I've said before, if Tourance were the same price as the Avons then I would choose the Avons. Last time the pair of Avons was £30 cheaper.

Dunno about the Avons, but why not try the Continental Road Attacks? Pal of mine's got them on his 1200 GSA, reckons they're the bees knees. Bike rated them too, although they also thought the Dunlops were better than Metzelers (personally, I much prefer the Metzelers), so I don't hold their opinion in very high esteem!

Only real downside of the Continentals is you lose the off roady look....but matey reckons it's a small price to pay.

HTH.

Had a set on now for 5-600 miles very inpressed better grip than Tourance in both Wet and Dry...........go for them cost me £114 plus P&P fitted myself from Round and Black on ebay, very good service from these people:clap

Going to try the Distanzia's next as after 4 years of using tourances, I'm going to try a tyre that I might actually use up. I have never used a tourance full, normally have to change due to squaring off rather than using the tread.

£114 a set ain't bad compared to £144 for the tourance

The handling remained pretty good on the Distanzias until I got to the wear bars on the central strip. I do very few motorway miles so tend to keep a rounded profile anyway.

Matey isnt very consistent. Buys a GSA for the off road look then puts road tyres on it and says he isnt worried about losing the off road look.

Chelsea tractor rider?
