Avon Trailrider review

Just had these fitted to my bike. What sort of mileages are people getting out of a rear? I've just read on AdvRider that someone only got 3100 miles out of his

I got between 8 and 10k kms out of my rear but I've at least 25hp less than you. That's the most I've ever got from a rear tyre.

About 2500kms of that was fully loaded with pillion on french autoroutes which probably done it no favours either.

I've got the Avon Trailriders on my Adventure and much prefer them to the Anakee 3's.

Front end is much quieter than the Anakee's and I find them loads more sure footed on wet and greasy roads. At 2,000 miles on my first set now, front looks like new and the rear is just starting to flat. I'm hoping for around 4,000 miles out of the rear but we'll see!

Great tyre for the GS....for me anyway!

It's as if they where designed for our shitty weather and roads..........oh yeah, they where.

Thanks Avon......keep up the good work.

Well I have 6,000 miles on mine (I know that as had them fitted 3 months ago at last service, and now its back in for its next service) and they are still going strong. Been pretty impressed with them, I ride 140 miles each day on B roads, A roads and Motorways. About 90 miles on the motorways and 50 miles on the smaller roads. All conditions, wet, dry, warm, cold. They are holding up well.

Now fitted :beerjug:

Will try them out soon.:thumb

I've had X 2 sets of the trialrider now, so going to have a set of Pirelli scorpion trial next, will I regret it?

The trial riders are brilliant but have also heard good things about the Pirelli,s who has had the scorpion ? Are they any good.

I have had Scorpion Trail II on my 2007 GSA, I absolutely loved them.......but........the front wore in a very strange manor from about half way through it's life......and the front wore out on par with the rear. Great grip (actually brilliant grip) and feel.

Also, to put an extra little smile on your face, you get a little red scorpion on the sidewall!!!

Great sounds good enough to me will give them a go.

Thanks

Ref scorpions, i found the same uneven wear and the front barely lasted as long as the rear at 4000 miles , they had decent performance ,but have a very thin flexible carcass even compared to pr4,
hoping to fit the trail riders when the pr4 are done ,which were better all round than scorpions, looking for better wear mainly,

Particularly interested in front end road noise, I'm currently running a set of Heideneau's on my bike, front end noise is horrendous!

Has any body got comparison between the trailriders and tourance next?. I'm not too worried about wear just want the grippiest tyres

Also what's an acceptable level of tread depth on a tyre before it has to be changed.
