Hi Tossers

Just thought I would tell you of a problem I have been having.
At 2.5-3k revs in all gears but more noticeable in 5th or 6th I have had a real bad clattering noise / vibration coming through the rhs footpeg.
Its been in A.Jeff and they think its the clutch.
They have ordered a new one but have had a shocking amount of problems getting the right amount / clearance on the new one.
They have ordered god knows how many parts to try and fix it. In all they have had my bike for 3 weeks.
They say that BMW have changed / modified the clutch somehow.
Getting it back tomorrow so all should be well now, fingers crossed.
Just thought I would post this in case anyone else has a similar problem.
CM.

Have you got the bike back yet? Is it sorted?

Was the clattering/vibration there all the time at 2.5-3k revs? Or was it mostly when rolling on the throttle?

Did you/they check the chain? A chain that's got a tight spot (and thereby a loose spot opposite) will slap/clatter about at those sort of revs as you roll on the throttle - well mine does!

Yep chain was okay and correctly adjusted. They did try fobbing me off with this one.
It seems okay now, but: One the way home it stalled and would not restart.
I pushed it to a filling station and put a tenner in.
It started but was running very lumpy.
It stalled a quarter of a mile later and refused to start.
Had to call BMW Assist out who turned up very quickly to be fair.
Saidl it had ran out of fuel and that I had dragger all the crap from the bottom of me tank through the injectors and that it will clear over time!!!
Well F**ked off to say the least.
Is it worth complaining?

Funny! I have run out of fuel twice (testing the computer of course!) and had no problems of blocked injectors - I would have thought there was a filter built in to the tank outlet but who knows?

I've got to say that what the BMW Assist person said sounds like total and utter b@ll@cks.

If your bike was 10+ year-old with a metal tank that had spent quite a bit of time with a near empty tank, then there's a reasonable chance rust may have formed and found its way to bottom of the tank.

But on a 2-ish (maximum) year-old bike with a plastic tank?? Who's he trying to kid?

Andy is totally right thinking about it! Also if you get shit blocking injectors it is unlikely to "work through", more likely to need a strip down and clean out. How is the bike running now?
