Bar risers/screens

That's what I thought but it clunks more off the stand too. Once in gear you can hold the clutch in and go up and down the box no problems but definitely a bit more clunky. I'll sort it, just glad to have the Helibars fitted.

Can you please post a pic of the Helibars mate
I just fitted std bar risers, they are ok but could do with a little more height

Cheers
Rob

No probs, see below. tbh I would have preferred them to come back a good inch further but that's not possible without changing clutch and brake lines and going to the GS type bar conversion. It's an improvement but still not perfect:

I have Heli bars on mine, they were on when I bought the bike (last week) so haven’t ridden without them to compare. They feel comfortable and seem to suit my riding position well
On another note I just found this in an old copy of MCN. (From 2020)IMG_3795.jpeg

Cheers Morety
they are a bit higher and back a bit further than the ones ive got fitted, Ill have a look for a cheap copy set LOL

I would advise against that Rob. I ordered some cheap chinese ones from Ebay and the holes didn't line up so had to return them for a refund. Best stick to quality. There's a set in the classifieds of the voight ones for sale at the minute which might do the trick as they have a similar rise/pull back to the Helibars? https://www.ukgser.com/community/threads/voigt-bar-riser-for-r-1250-r.359051/

I did see them on there but still toying with the idea of the bar conversion like I had on my 1200 it was super comfi the only problem that it did cause is that I could only see my fists in the mirrors, I dont really want to replace the mirrors and lever clamps to fit them as then id have to blank the fairing mirrors or have 4 !!
ive got the std bar risers which I may try to make some spacers for, or just buy the ones for sale !!

I had problems with a set of up and back risers I bought from China for my GS. The holes were not in quite the same place as the ones they'd copied which was pnly apparent when I put them side byvside after buying a set of Winderlicht ones. This resulted in one of the rear threads stripping when I tightened the bar bolts up (using a torque wrench) . When I took the bolt out it was only being held in place by a couple of threads so they endedbupngojng in the bin once I'd bought thebothercset and found just how crap and potentially dangerous they were. Buy cheap, buy twice comes to mind. Withnthe Chinese knock off stuff you never quite know what you're getting which if it's safety related isn't possibly the best choice, something which I found out. Luckily I didn't suffer the possible consequences, it just cost me a few quid. Lesson learned.....

Yeah, I wouldn't want to be relying on Chinese made bar risers, when riding
The braking and steering forces, when riding are immense
Why spend £15-20k on a bike and then skimp on accessory prices, it doesn't make sense?

Yeah probably, well at least I've tried them all !! not many bikes I haven't owned to be honest.

Said the same on the R1200/1250RS FB page. It caused a 50 answer debate. I don't mind non safety items from Ali. However just ordered some motorcycle bags and the quality was crap.

Just replaced the powerbronze touring screen with a std one and fitted the adjustable lip to it, a little ride yesterday proved that its much better for me
also bit the bullet and ordered a Wunderlich handlebar conversion from Nippy Normans @ £275.00 hopefully it will be as comfi as I remember it was on my 1200RS
paid the extra for next day delivery, hopefully should be here Tuesday

Don't forget to post some pictures or it never happened 😉

There you go, took about an hour from start to finish, money well spent it feels so much better exactly how a sports tourer should feel

Wider looking than std bars and looks a good few inches more raised than with the riser kit? Must make steering feel a lot lighter? Looks good though. What you have there is a lower, sportier GS! Just begining to bond with mine after a month of riding now. It's grown on me a lot.

Morety the riding position is superb now more touring sport than sport touring, it really is a lower sportier GS the steering is better when moving around with a bit more leverage, I had the same set up on my 1200RS and I really liked that but was lured to the 1250GS Rallye !! back in the RS fold now and enjoying it for the moment LOL

It'll continue to grow on you I'm sure. I wanted to try something different to a GS and just like the ride and feel of the RS more. The bar risers in combination with the seat change have given me something similar but for me, it's a bit easier to live with day to day than my older GSA.
