I have a 1250RS (bear with me) that I'm thinking about putting some bar risers on.

I'm posting here because it's got the tubular bars on it which I'm led to believe are the same as those on the 1250R sport.

So far I've fitted a Puig touring plus screen to it as the OE one wasn't tall enough/didn't provide enough protection from the wind that I wanted (coming off a 1250 GS). I've also fitted a 790mm seat - in came with the 760mm one which was too hard and my legs were too cramped.

The issue I have is I'm getting some hand numbness after a couple of hours riding hence the thinking on the bar risers. I've fitted some grip puppies which help but hasn't fully solved the problem.

So any thoughts from the collective on bar risers for the 1250R, especially if you have an R sport, why you fitted yours and what the outcome was.

TIA 👍

have you checked the position of the levers is correct? You need to be able to put your palm flat on the grip, hold your fingers straight and rest them on the lever. You need to have a straight line from your finger tip, through your wrist and along your forearm. Any knkiness at the wrist and you will put pressure on nerves that can cause the numbness.

I had these on my R1200RS, standard bars and they fit the R as well

My initial rection was that you might be suffering a little from "carpal tunnel sysndrome".

I have just put bar risers on my new-to-me R1250R, but this is primarily to ease the strain on my aging neck muscles. I chose the R over the RS for the riding postion. I should be on an RT but it was getting a little heavy .:(

Thanks, I never realised that. I'll check that out to make sure the levers are in the correct position for me. I've got them on position 1 with the grip puppies fitted as I have relatively small hands

it's not the span number to consider, but the rotational position of the lever on the bar.

Thanks, I had the carpal tunnel op on both wrists in 2021 and don't have problems with my hands now doing anything else so I'm hoping it's not that. I can't remember having problems on my 1250 GS post op so I'm hoping it might be just a case of extra pressure on my hands caused by the more forward lean compared to the GS which bar risers might help with. I did try an R, but didn't like being out in the wind, even though it had a BMW screen on, so all in all the RS was the better, but not perfect fit for me and I didn't want another GS.

I have a set of 30mm high/21mm back Voigt risers with a Voigt clutch hose adapter fitted to my R1250R Sport. They are very well made, look like they belong on the bike and are very easy to fit,HTH

Thanks that helps, especially as your bars are apparently the same as mine. What differences did yiu notice after fitting them? They look very similar to the up and back risers from Wunderlict too. When you fitted the clutch hose adapter how did you bleed the system afterwards?

Thanks again 👍

The riding position is much more comfortable for me as they ease the pressure on my palms. I also have Wunderlich Vario adjustable foot rests on the bike, which also help with the overall riding position.
The hose adapter was very straight forward to fit, no bleeding required!

Ta, that sounds promising, just got to check the lever positions @wessie mentioned above first. I've got a 790mm seat fitted at the mo, but also have a 760mm seat which I might try to see how that feels for the seat/bar positioning though that's too cramped for my legs so isn't a long term solution. I did try the Wunderlict up and back risers on my GS, but that was too much for me so I'm hoping this might be the happy medium I'm looking for, a bit of a road focused GS if that makes sense. I'm a 5'7" short arse old cretin with 29" stumpy legs and shortish arms so don't need to drop the pegs as previously on the GS I rode with some Daytona M Star high heels but have some normal Alpine stars touring boots now 🤣

I had a play on Monday after fitting a rad protector trying to get an idea for how the Voigt risers you have would fit by trying my 760cm seat which gave me the 30mm the risers would with my usual seat and they definitely take some weight off my wrists. So I've got some coming off evil bay with free postage for £99 as opposed to getting them from Gemany for €99 without the postage etc. I also got a clutch hose adapter but not the voigt one for £15 rather than the silly money they want. Thanks for your help 👍
