As nice and pretty looking a hotel as it appears, most people travelling to the Hebrides are looking for that extra warm Scottish native heart warming feel, associated with that part of the Isles.

Imo, I would have rather seen old style Black houses built with a modern twist inside, possibly a small style village, like chalets individually built to represent those built, as they would have been back before the clearances took place.
Much like they have done in Gearrannan...Isle of Lewis.

Fabulous location.

But it's the Scottish version of Fawlty Towers!

We tried to eat there this week but failed miserably.

Even the locals we spoke to think that the place is simply strange!

It's a shame - Barra is a really great place to visit!
The location is wonderful but I'm surprised that the design got approval. The left hand side seems to dominate the landscape. If I'm going to Barra, I'd either camp or do a BnB rather than stay there. Flying in and out is an option too and should be on everyone's bucket list.

I've flown in/out twice. As you say, it's a 'must do' experience!

We were at the Borve campsite a couple of hundred yards up the road. My 3rd visit there. Again, it's a 'must do' location.

Last night's sunset from our pitch:
